Well, this is just something I've been thinking about recently... I mean I like the basic idea of day game and even like it more than approaching girls in clubs - and I've done it when I was in school and it worked there so why not in coffee shops etc. - but man. I live in a city of about 100 000 people and although it's large enough for "everybody knowing everybody" to be impossible, the possibility of being known as "the guy who talks to girls he doesn't know in daytime" disturbs me and makes me really uncomfortable. Like, if an interaction with a girl in daytime doesn't result in anything and the whole thing would be wiped from her memory afterwards, that'd be cool, but can't you basically earn such a reputation from this? That'd be horrible and come off as really creepy. I realize that the chances of it happening are quite slim, but all it takes is one girl who's really weirded out to post something on the internet, another girl possibly notice it and the ball is rolling :? Or if a person happens to see you talking to different girls twice for example and starts to spread the info?

Really? You're worried about people thinking of you as that guy who talks to girls he doesn't know??

For one....how else are you going to meet new people? The only way is to talk to them.

And 2nd.....Think of all the people you know now....How did you meet them? By talking to then at a time you didn't know them.....

You're right in the sense that everyone I know was of course a new person when I met them, but then again I've met pretty much everyone I know "naturally" - through another friend, at school, at parties. There was a "reason" for meeting all of these people. Approaching girls at stores etc. feels different, as the norm is that you're out just doing your business during the day, not really to meet new people. And yeah, of course, there's really no other way of meeting girls this way than just doing it. Maybe my fears are a bit unfounded. But yes, I'm kind of worried about it, although I realize such a scenario probably won't occur anyway.

Maybe I just need to look at it from the perspective of being a naturally friendly and talkative guy (which is what I am) instead of being afraid of seeing as some sort of weirdo.

EDIT: And maybe it's for the best that I mention that I'm Scandinavian and it's really not "usual" for unknown people to talk to each other here, which is partly why I'm a little nervous about this. I aknowledge that I can use this cultural difference to my advantage too by standing out from other guys by having the guts to approach during the day.

I think you're thinking too much about it...

Theres nothing wrong with talking to strangers when you're a grown ass man looking to meet new friends.

And I completely understand when you say the people you have befriended in the past, were from school, and thru other friends. Everyone can relate to that actually. We sit in school all day, eventually most of us make friends with people. Then outside of school, those friends bring their friends around.....and then their friends..etc. So in reality, a lot of us never really gave ourselves a chance to go out in the "wild" and make new friends with people. So yeah, it does seem different, because your whole life you never had to do it......

Think of it this way....When one of your friends would introduce you to a new friend. How did it go?

Friend A: Hey "Friend B"...This is "That one guy" I was talking about...
YOU: Hey, Friend B...I'm "That one guy"..Its nice to meet you
Friend B: blah blah blah

Now think of it as you're out on the street, store, library, etc.

Just pretend that whoever you're going to approach, is already a mutual friend.
It pretty much goes the same, minus having Friend A there to introduce you..Introduce yourself. Look at them like they're already a friend. Talk to them like they're already your friend. You're not nervous when talking to your friends..You're not afraid of being yourself around them...So don't let it get in the way when you're out meeting new people on your own.
