When you approach someone you actually SHOW that you're a powerful person, as long as you do it with confidence and assertiveness. Most guys won't even dare to talk to random women out there.
Don't over-think the whole power-giving concept. You see someone, you like her, you go for it. Whether it shows interest or not, who cares. You simply make it happen.
