Go to the gym and dress well. Even if that means spend a little on new clothes.
If you feel like you look good, you do good.
Think about when you last thought "Wow, I look freaking cool right now"
Do you remember how it made you feel?
I'm guessing it gave you a big boost, and gave you a certain type of energy which made you want to go out and show off your confidence.

Again, it's all very subjective - what motivates you and what doesn't depends on you.
Personally, this approach works well for me.
