Here's what's worked for me: Approach..start casual conversation...if with friends, talk to entire group...use false time constraint (I have to go back to friends in a minute but....) so you don't seem threatening...continue convo...if she gives you enough IOIs during this time (according to Mystery, 3 minimum) and you've been chatting for at least like 10minutes or so and all you want is her number at that time (you can continue with her at some point later)...then simply say "You seem pretty cool, I gotta head back to my friends now but lemme get your number and maybe we can chat some more sometime" This conveys that: you have qualified her (and not the other way around), you seem interested in something other than her looks (she seems cool), you are willing to walk away ("and MAYBE we can chat some more...") This line has helped me number close tons of chics and is a genuine way of asking a girl for her phone number. And if you're feeling REALLY bulletproof, while you're hanging out with her add: "Before I forget, lemme get your number" (this basically assumes the sale and shows that you're pre-selected by women and that you hang out with so many chics, you sometimes forget to get their numbers! Yes! lol Enjoy

Go and chat with the girl you like and when you think you've made enough rapport ask her for phone number. Or just don't ask at all but just give her your phone.

To make the number more solid I always give a reason to ask for the number: "you're cool, let's go hit the city some day" and then I give her my phone.

When I feel like there isn't enough interest I either try until there is or I eject and go for someone else.
