could you marry and have kids with a woman who family has a history of medical problems, so weaken your genes for love?

I know once you fall in love with this woman it wouldnt matter to you, but would it be wise not to, knowing it would compromise your families gene pool and make it harder for your family name to survive into the future?

rather than only think about 'love' is there other things to consider too?

keep it simple...you assume your family has perfect genes well every family has something bad in there genes.

yes do marry a woman you love even though her family doesnt have perfect genes who knows might not ever effect you and your family because not all genes when you have children get expressed so those bad genes her family has might not effect your kids.....also her family has those bad genes but how are you so certain that her automoses or sex chromoses are carrying the gene for those bad traits?

If her family has a tendency for cancer and/or diabetes, well...that's something to consider. Besides, you should try not to fall in love right away anyways lol.

Im being legit.

I want kids.

A girl ive been dating.... her family has a history of Cancer. I couldnt stand the thought of having children with a high risk of getting cancer because of some hereditary bullshit which she has no control over....

Am I as shallow as they come, to put my needs of wanting a family over a future with her? I dont think so. But what do others think?

I dont think that's being shallow. I mean, it's not only about the kids, but if her family has a history of Cancer, your girlfriend/wife can develop it at any time. Would you be ok with having children with no mother?

It is a pretty delicate subject, and everyone must make their own decision. A lot of people don't even consider this kind of situations.

Ultimately, you have to decide if your love for someone is enough to jeopardize your future and your children's.

I wouldn't worry about that. In ten or twenty years illness like that definitely will be curable.

here is one possible outcome you may not have considered:

you find the genetically perfect female human to copulate with and procreate your gene pool.

your children are born with no genetic flaws, completely healthy, and are destined to remain so until the day they die at around 100 years of age 'from old age'.

unfortunately, one is hit crossing the street and killed and the other gets a sport-related head injury and remains an invalid for life.

This is something I have considered as well

Lets postulate!

You breed with some munter or person from inferior genetic stock, you have spazzy children, they hate there lives and go on a killing spree at their local school blasting all the tall attractive blond haired and blue eyed kids.

Could also reverse that and say you breed with superior stock kids way too intelligent gets depressed goes around shooting all the trogs.

either way it's win win.

option 1 your removing the competition, option 2 your pruning the gene pool!

joking aside, i'll probably get lynched for saying this but I think people who have serious hereditary problems should consider adopting instead of procreating. Even if it was me.

I know I know someone will give examples of people like stephen hawking, but 'shrug'.
