I'm sure somebody must have asked this before, but I've never seen it here. Some of my buddies and aquaintances are telling me that if I want to pick up women, I need to buy a Harley Davidson motorcycle. What is your opinion on this?I've actually been hearing this for several years and I know there is something to it, but for the longest time, I had a phobia of motorcycles - stemming from a near-tragic motorcycle accident my cousin got into several years ago.

But now I've decided that this is a fear I need to conquer and I went out, got my motorcycle learning permit, and I'm taking classes! I have ridden before, back when I was a teenager - half a lifetime ago for me! And that was only for one summer. I have alsways had an interest in motorcycles, both before and after my cousin got into his wreck - and not just because of the pussy factor, but also because it looks like a lot of fun. Hopefully by this time next year, I'll have my Harley and have more lady friends than I know what to do with!

I guess if you are into biker chicks, it helps, but no vehicle will GUARANTEE you women. It does help to have some kind of vehicle, because it simplifies logistics. I still kinda go with the South Park logic that if you ride a motorcycle for attention/coolness, you're a fag (in a non-homosexual sense).

Honestly, if you want to do it, and if you have a legitimate interest in bikes, then by all means go for it. There aren't enough people that just go after what they want in this world, anymore. But if you are only doing this to help get laid, I seriously suggest you reconsider. It's a lot of money, time, and effort that makes minimal difference in my opinion. At the very least, buy/have onhand a second helmet . Not much point in a bike if you risk a chick's life takin her back to your place because you didn't have the cash leftover for a second helmet!

Have you ever seen a hot chick on the back of a Harley? ....Me neither.

I was really into buying Yamaha R6 because I LIKE IT.

I've met quite a few people from that world in the past year, and girls I've met were such sluts, it's discuasting. I really don't judge girls, but this was too much.

If I ever get enough money to buy one of these babies, no such girl is gonna get a ride from me.

To Professor X: Yes, I have seen massive amounts of hot chicks on the backs of Harleys driven by some of the ugliest, fattest douches to ever walk the earth. Even though I have very little riding experience, I have always been attracted to the lifestyle; I used to go to swapmeets and witness these georgeous women hang all over these nasty bikers. That being said, I will also admit that there was no shortage of ugly women with these guys as well.

To DJ Z: While I admit that my main motivating factor for getting back into motorcycles is for the women - I do have, and have always had, an interest in the hobby. But for too long, my fear over what happened to my cousin held me back from pursuing this interest. And I fully intend to ride with a helmet and other protective gear at all times. As for those people who go by "South Park logic" and think I'm a "fag" for riding motorcycles just to pick up chicks - name one reason I should give one fuck what they think? Odds are, they get laid more than I do. And how many of these people who think I'm a "fag" are women? Not very many, I would think. Dont get me wrong, DJ Z, I respect what you said, and you are very correct in saying that if my ONLY reason for getting into this was to pick up chicks - then it is the wrong reason and I should reconsider. But it isnt the only reason. The main reason? Yes. But not the only one.

Its still the reason why you want to get the bike. If you where more into the bike itself and wondering if you could use it on the side to pickup girls that be something different, but the main reason is to pickup girls. With that in mind I think you should pass on it. As it be an expensive pickup toy really.

I own a harley and love it! but if your friends are saying you NEED to buy one to pick up, your friends are idiots. Yes the bike attracts a bit of attention, but there are many far cheaper ways to get attention. If you like bikes and you love cruising, a harley is the right choice. If you love women, put some time into yourself and worry about that instead of the bike.

That is complete nonsense. You don't need to ride a motorcycle to be successful with women. Do only what YOU like unless it's a matter of hygiene, fashion, health or something of the sort. Better yet, do only what YOU LOVE. Doing what you don't really like just to pickup women is kind of pathetic. And women can pick up on that. They can pickup on a guy who's truly doing what he loves, who is congruent with his hobbies, lifestyle, etc. vs. a guy who's doing stuff to impress people whether that be women or someone else.

You don't need a motorcycle, you don't need a car, you don't need money, you don't need power, status or even a job to be successful with women. I know a broke, bald guy who works at Starbucks and has a tiny room with a bed, a table and one chair. He got all his furniture for free from a friend.

He gets laid more than anyone I know.

You need to understand what really matters in success with women. What really attracts women. It's not the Harley! It's the PERSONALITY of guys who tend to ride Harleys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've got to be kidding! Harley chicks are nasty and, I'm sorry but no gorgeous women are hanging out at swap meets unless they're being paid to be there. Where I live (a big city) the biker bars and Harley dealers have to hire bikini teams just so the guys will show up. Maybe that's what you experienced. Harleys appeal to an older crowd, it's just not as young and hip as it was in the '70s. The younger hotter chicks (sadly) are more impressed by a crotch rocket or a dirt bike.

Motorcycles are a cool hobby but do it because you love it, not for the chicks.
