The fundamental flaw of newb's is lack of experience. And without a clear goal to work towards, often people lose track and repeat mistakes. I think we should have a weekly goal, such as talk to 10 randoms or experiment with different peacocking items. Then briefly report back, with anything you learned and what could be improved. How many people would be interested?

I don't like this approach at all. Nothing beats experience. You don't need canned material for every situation, the best thing to do is learn how to act on your feet. Unexpected things will happen, and then you will be hung out to dry because you won't know how to handle it.

Go out there and do work.

I'm totally in favor of this. I need something to work towards- some goals. The one thing I lack now is experience as I've read a ton PUA guides from The Game to Magic Bullets. I often connect our need for experience with the fact that women are approached thousands of times a year. We need to get out there and get just as much experience as women; we need to have one thousand approaches to even the playing field. No book or DVD can simulate this experience. If you come up with some "homework" type goals I would be game for it.

firebird - yeah but im so new to this (just fin t'game book) i feel id kill my spirit if i went out for now and stalled in the set. Wanna at least finish myst method book first.

soma- unless im really mistaken there are homework goals in mystery method book. but if flame or whoever came up with new ones and u could all collaborate I could see how that would be beneficial - like a support system, since ur all doing same thing

I'm down for this. My wingman and I have already set up a schedule...different nights each week for different places...having goals listed here would help us...seems kind of difficult to set them for yourself at first.

Heres what I tell all newbies that go sarging w/ me.

1) Set up your frame. Set it for purely learning.
"Rejections" are not rejections. There was something about the approach or the presentation that she didnt like. So what, thats why your learning this stuff.

Learn from all responses. DO NOT take any "rejection" personally. They don't know you. You don't know them. You are learning.

2)Get into a talkative mood. Its easier to approach w/ less anxiety when youre talkative. Talk to strangers, no need to open w a "clever opener". Ask for the time, ask where something is, talk talk talk.

3) 1st night focus on opening. DO NOT get stressed out on "whats a good opener." If you must use can material, just remember 2, and work on it. Take note on your tone, delivery and bodylanguage. Learn to calibrate.

4)Open as many sets as possible. 5-10 sets per venue is good. The more the merrier & the better the experience would be.

5) Have fun. If you arent enjoying this, you might as well quit.

I think if we all agree on one goal each week and go after it, it would greatly help our game. I think if we use the Mystery Method Model our first goal could start with Attraction Stage 1 (A1) Opening. We could start by trying to open 10 sets (or more) for the first week, the next week we move onto A2, than A3 the week after. We could continue on this way all the way through S3. We need to brainstorm our goals for each stage and some stages may not be accomplishable in one week so we would need to work out how long to each step should take. Also if you do not accomplish each goal in the allotted time you should stick to that goal until it has been accomplished. Does any one else have other ideas as far as how to go about setting this up?

I like the opening 10 sets goal. If we did stuff like that we could post our field reports here and improve our game. I'm getting excited about this, I need some sort of motivation to get out there- I always make up excuses somehow...Ha, as if getting laid isn't motivation enough...

This would be a good a time as any to start. This weeks mission is to talk to 10 people that you don't directly know. This includes friends of friends. Feel free to post anything you learned or realised and anithing that you think set you back and how you could overcome it. Good luck guys.

I think that I am the only one who is participating in these missions! Oh well, more experience for me! 8) Instead of talking a little about every approach, I will go into detail for one I thought went well. Let me know what you guys think :D

I was at the mall in a store called Zumiez, and talked to this HB 8/9 hired gun who was a greeter.
HB: How are you today?
Soma: Pretty good
HB: Just pretty good?
Soma: It just hasn't been anything special yet, thats all
HB: Does me wearing this make you want to buy it? (she was wearing a matching ensemble, with a hat and jacket)
Soma: Yeah, but I think this hat would look much better on me (and I took it off her head and put it on mine) Actually, I need to try on some beanies over there, so you can have this back.

I then went over and started trying some of them on with my sister. She kept handing me the crazy/feminine ones as a joke, and I would try them on. It was busy and crowded, so she was off doing other things for a while. Finally, she came by as I was trying this very girly one on, as a joke-
HB: That looks really good on you, but if I tell you a secret will you promise not to get mad at me?
Soma: Yeah, I promise
HB: That's a girls' hat
Soma: Yeah, I know. But sometimes it's fun to joke around
HB: Definitely (and walked off to hang things up)

I finally picked one out, but needed to check out some other stores first before I bought it, so I went up to her and asked-
Soma: Hey best friend, I need to ask you a favor, will you hold on to this for me until I get back?
HB: Well, what are you going to do for me then?
Soma: I don't know, what do you want me to do? (I should have said something better here!)
HB: Well..You did call me your best friend, so I'll hold on to it for you. But only for a little while
Soma:Give me 10 minutes

I went to another store and bought a scarf, and came back-
Soma: Hey best friend! I'm back!
HB: Here's your beanie, I've been guarding it for you
Soma: Thanks. Hey, while I've got you, what do you think about this scarf I got? Does it go well with the hat?
HB: Yeah! Its a good style! They go well together
Soma: Awesome, I guess I'll buy it then

Before leaving, I approached her one final time-
Soma: I'll see you later best friend! (and gave her a high five)
HB: Have a nice day!

I really should have tried to continue the conversation, perhaps do a few openers and routines, but it was so damn crowded and my sister would not have wanted to wait for me. Not too bad for my first mission, I think I should have number closed when she asked what favor I should do for her. I could have been like, "Well, you can hang out with me sometime. I'm going to X place at Y time, maybe you could tag along" or something like that. Oh well, I'm just happy I carried on a reasonably smooth conversation.

Good FR soma.
There were plenty of IOIs from it that I feel you could have number closed. If it was busy and you were with your sis you could have used that as an excuse.

"well Im hanging with my sister, I promised to take her shopping. Its so crowded in here but Id like to continue to having a conversation..."
Or something of the sort.

With the IOIs youve been getting, she'll suggest the her # or another means of contact.

Sounds like she was just doing her job. Unless there was a convo where the "hired gun program" is shut off & shes just having a normal conversation with you.

Either way good job to everyone doing this excercise.
