You guys ever play slug bug when you were kids?
HB: No
Explain the game when you see a VW Beetle you say "slug bug" and punch yer friend in the arm
HB: Yes
Well I was with my nephews/nieces the other day and theres this new looking VW Beetle that drives right in fron of us, so one of my nephews yells slug bug and smacks the other one - I was about to tell them to stop but then I remembered how we used to play this game all the time when I was a kid. Well the one that got punched hauls off and punches him right back in the arm and says - SLUG BUG IS ONLY FOR THE OLD RUSTY LOOKING BUGS NOT THE NEW ONES! - of course the other kid says it workd for any VW beetle cause theyre all "bugs".
HB: hmmm
I thought it was feunny as hell and they asked me what the rule was and I said I didnt know that they should work it out amongst themselves. . . so what do you think?

thoughts?

If not an opener, that would make a great story. DHV because you love kids.

Agreed, more a story than opener, since it doesn't really lead anywhere.
Personally, I always hated games that involved hitting, but that's just my inner wuss talking.

good point, can also transition to "would you drive a beetle?" - if yes can neg "I bet you would get a pink one and put vanity plates on it."

If you're going to lead into asking whether she'd get a beetle, then I'd link it to the story and something to do with wanting people beating each other up over her or something like that.

Its definitely not an opener, but decent story if you can lead into it and not sound like you were just waiting to use it all week.

 That bears repeating. Any canned opener or story is going to fizzle if your delivery gives away the fact that it's canned. This is why learning to come up with something original to say in the moment is so important. Having a plan B never hurt, but you should keep these canned routines in your back pocket for the occasional crash and burn.

Your A material should be improvised in the moment, based on what's going on around you. Where are you, what is she doing, what are you doing, what song is playing, what's the vibe, what do you notice about her? Say something about that. Get a conversation going. Then, based on where the conversation goes, dig in to your own life stories for material that is consistent with the theme or feeling behind what the two of you are talking about. Let it flow naturally.

You can run out of routines and canned openers, but you'll never run out of actual moment to moment experience. There's always NOW. Tap into that and you have unlimited "material".

Good luck.

Something that really happened to me but it was in 2003. Heres the story. I get off the freeway to the hollywood blvd exit, a bum is standing there with a sign"WILL WORK FOR HEAD" shows it to a guy in a car next to me, then makes a gesture asking for a ciggarette. Anyone recomend I use this as an opener pretending like it just happened?

Ok. Now the other night im at tillys practicing and i use the khaki opener on these 2 girls they respond then ask me what made me ask that question and asked if i was stoned. I hesitated for a sec trying to think then said these guys at my work were arguing about it(which was a lie).

What's your point? This is completely off topic and you already have a topic about this opener, in which I might add you didn't put how the opener goes in any sort of clear place to read.
