OK, today learnt about Khun's science paradigm. He states that there are 3 types of science

Pre-science: core assumptions and hypothesis with little evidence, and that evidence is not put against other theories/sciences

Normal science: Theories which are empirically tested and explain things, in "co-operation" with other theories/perspectives.

Revolutionary science: A new theory/perspective which solves and explains more, but which is different to the original theory.

I dont know how well ive explained it, if its a little confusing look it up. But basically the main point im trying to get across, is that even in science, opinions are constantly changing and new reasons are found.

for example, in biology, there is pre-darwin and post-darwin.

So, this has helped me understand and choose from the overwhelming amount of theories out there. Lets say MM was the first...

From there, new theories and ways of picking up came out, which explained things and got better results. Now for a while this I found annoying, as I knew MM worked and had validity, but then so did the new ways of doing it.

But this new ways are like the "revolutionary science" They take the good from the old theory and add in new stuff which makes it better.

So what am I saying? We should take what we know works from older theories, and embrace new ones, and come up with our own method from there.

I got it right?

Different people can understand game in there own way. You clearly understand it in terms of this science deal, but it means nothing to me. I understand it in business terms, but that may mean nothing to you. And someone else may view it and relate it to politics in their life. This is why I recommend everyone get as many perspectives on game as they can. Perhaps one of those will speak to them louder than the others.

In other words, cool post, and even if I didn't understand it, I'm sure there are other people having "lightbulb moments" right now because your post made them see it in a new light. Congrats.

Did you not just read my post above yours? If you don't understand what he's saying, that's fine. And if you do understand and have a critique or disagreement, that's fine. What you said? Not helpful.

HAHA Have a pic for your realization. Also- in fairness- I am in the process of mixing different types of the game and studying different disciplines. I don't think a mutually exclusive model is helpful, however, what this mixed method looks like? Who knows.

This is however the reason why Style was so successful.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Nicely done. ;)

Now that I understand what's being said, I definitely agree with you. And think about it not so much as mixing different styles, but discovering your own style, which probably is similar to others' in various aspects. At least that's how I look at it.

Yeah- the best skilled craftsmen in the world tend to mix disciplines. It isn't easy, but I am beginning to develop it. It takes EXTREME subtly and calibration.

Like the other day, I met that Italian girl- mixed natural with routine shit and number closed. It's in my FR, not the last post but the one right before it. Keep in mind I am still trying to get that in order, but I think I've eased into a style. the-charm-city-field-and-lay-report-vt99907.html

Now I just have to work on other shit- which I have no clue where to begin with....it's all in there.

Glad you liked the pic btw, it totally made me laugh....my day at work would be so boring without this forum.

I think the best example of mixing natural/routines is AFC Adam.
