I went to the mall today, as usual, and started hitting on girls there. I walk into Pacsun and look around a little bit, then right before I'm about to leave I notice 3 girls walk in. One of the girls breaks off from the other 2 so I decide to approach her. I use a direct opener, "You look adorable and I had to say hi." Just right when I'm about to engage the whole group someone says "sir" and I turn around to see this girl that worked there that I approached about a month and a half ago. She says, "you'll have to leave, this has gone on too much. I don't want to see you back here." I say "umm okay" and leave. That through me off for a little bit, and I was about to leave but then I told myself "dude, are you going to let HER do this too you?" I decide not and proceed to open up 3 more sets.
The first was a couple of girls walking out of Macys that caused the alarm to go off, and I accused them of stealing something. They loved it. I then went into Hollister and a girl asked me if I was finding everything okay.
Me: "Yeah I'm good."
Her: "You look like you've been asked that a lot."
Me: "Well I've been asked that a lot by people in other stores. But I appreciate how helpful you are. If you get your manager I can tell him to give you a raise for being so helpful."
Her: "Haha, I'm actually the assistant manager."
Me: "Oh okay then I'll have to see the CEO."
Her: "Haha, do you live around here?"
Me: "Yeah I live in Bloomer."
Her: "Well if your ever looking for a job here it's open."
I thanked her and we talked a little longer, then she had to go in the back room.
The last set was a group of 3 girls. I used my "you guys look adorable" opener and they loved it. We talked for a little bit and I asked them if guys ever do this and they said no (these girls were cute), and one of them said she liked that I approached them and that I'm "special."
Who cares what that Pacsun bitch thinks, I didn't let her ruin my day.

I like the determination, but take a step back and assess the situation! The girl at PacSun was just doing her job. If she sees someone harassing customers while she's on the clock, then it's her responsibility to put an end to it. The fact that you hit on her unsuccessfully a month and a half ago probably didn't make her more sympathetic to your cause.

As for the girl at Hollister, she has to say those things to you the moment she sees you walk through the door. I know quite a few girls who work there, they're official job title is "model," and I've heard all kinds of attempted pickup horror stories. That back room? That's where they go to get away from guys who mistake their fake friendliness for IOIs.

I'm not trying to discourage you from spitting game at the mall. I respect the fact that you're out there doing a damn thing, but understand what you're up against when dealing with these girls. The girls who work at Dunkin' Donuts, Pretzel Time, and the like are much more receptive and much less likely to put up a flirty facade.

Best of luck.

I suppose your right, I don't like just taking that though. How can I avoid situations like this? I'm probably just going to avoid directly hitting on employees.

How can I tell the difference between fake friendliness and IOIs?

Thanks for your reply.

Try flirting with girls rather than hitting on them. It's classier and a lot less awkward for both parties. It doesn't involve pickup lines: it's all about body language. If you want to get with a girl from PacSun, go in there with the intention of buying something. Ask her if she has anymore Ken Block shirts or Young & Reckless gear out back. Don't be all weird about it, though. Just talk to her like she's one of your guy friends, like you're totally comfortable around her. If you've done everything right, then you'll be talking about skateboarding, rally car racing, or TV shows about those things in no time. It isn't hard to get a number the first time you go in, but I've found if that if you go into the store like, two or three times when she's there over the course of a week before getting her number, the relationship is more likely to go somewhere. Make sure you look the part, though, and play it cool! Also, I'd make sure the girl who called you out the last time isn't there the next time you go. All the game in the world isn't going to win her over.

Another thing you could do for practice is hit places that you'll never have to visit again. Walk into Victoria's Secret or Wet Seal, and spit game like you've never spit it before. Just say you're trying to find a shirt for a friend or something, so the help isn't sketched out as much by your presence. If you totally mess up, then who cares?

Body language! If she glances towards you whilst folding a shirt with a moose on it, and rattles off some generic greeting, then she's probably not interested. If she drops what she's doing and approaches you, gleaming, then you might have a shot, although this isn't likely to happen. You see, most of the girls who work in stores like Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch are high school-age and somewhat materialistic. They've been told directly or indirectly by their employers that they're attractive: hiring managers in both of these stores (they are affiliated, by the way: Hollister is owned by A&F) handpick their recruits from the mall based on how attractive they are. Seriously, I know one girl who has been approached by different A&F managers on more than one occasion in the food court. Once the girls (or guys, but they're not really a factor in this) are on the payroll, they're given the job title "model." To make a long story short, these girls are not likely to give you a shot unless you look like a college lacrosse player or one of the guys on an Abercrombie and Fitch bag. If you don't meet this criteria, and you start a dialogue with them, they will run for that back room so fast it'll make your head spin.

To make a long story short, the girls at Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch are, on average, hard to game if you're not the right person, physically. You're chances of success, while not out of the question, are much lower here than they are at say, Dunkin' Donuts or McDonald's, where the girls are a lot more down to Earth. Do you know where else is a good place to meet girls? Bookstores! Those places are like gold mines. I'd hit a few bookstores, order a few lattes, and see what you can do with the girls on the other side of the counter.

just an fyi, if someone overreacts, or even if someone calls mall security by mistake, the security could really fuck you over if they call the police. for example, they could tell the police that you were trying to run away and they had to hold you to prevent you from escaping and stay with you till police arrived, its enough for them to say that someone complained about you and then for the police it is enough for them to say that the mall security arrested you for some reason and had to hold you from escaping (so you must be guilty of something! sure nobody calls mall security for no reason). when they call the police, the police have to charge you with something, because then it would look like "why are they there?" and they get to get overtime and bragging rights when they arrest someone. and once you are arrested, the judge figures, well you would not get arrested for no reason, and the court has to investigate what you did wrong so they cannot release, and so on.. i am exaggerating a bit, but you get the point.
