I'm new to this, and so far have been thinking of the idea of having a plan to your approach for a a week or so. I've opened maybe 8-9 sets, and even ran some "material" in social settings with groups just to kill awkward silence.

Many times the targets are girls who are woking, and thus grabbing their attention is super important, and ive come to have a pretty cool "standard" line I take that flows pretty well...

Here it is

Opener 1. Hey, I need an your opinion on something, would you ever date a guy named hermin? [fluff/blah blah]

Opener 2. Hey, I need an your opinion on something, I have a friend who got engaged to this girl, after 1 month he cheated on her and shes leaving him. She wants to keep the ring but he says its his, what do you think? [blah blah]

**TRANSITION**

1. It's funny because I actually met hermin at a wedding in fresno a year ago...[DHV Story]

2. It's funny because my friend met this girl at a wedding, funny story about that wedding [DHV story]
It's a pretty smooth transition, and from here I'll usally ask how everyone knows eachother, or ask what everyone's name is. Make small talk, and from there I usally try to put another interesting story in.

I will take different lines/routines from here based on how many IOIs I get or the setting, but I try to rush this in at the start to build attraction..

What is your standard line? Is the first goal of approach to open then transition into a DHV?[/b]

I say "Hi I just came over because I wanted to meet you "

Or if its day game some place.

"Where is the closest Starbucks or something" blah blah "Yeah I don't really want a coffee I just wanted to meet you"

I don't dhv because I don't really like needed to talk myself up, or entertaining people.

Lol, Same here. Is better to talk about yourself least as possible. Makes you mysterious

Really? The first one seems to convey interest, and the second is a pretty lame and obvious attempt to talk to someone, especially if u keep talking once they answer...dont u think?

It's not about the opener, but what comes after the opener, you know..

Whats wrong with conveying interest?

How many other people walk up and just straight out hit on a girl?

It conveys interest, yes, but it also conveys confidence. Confidence is the ranked highest on the attraction ladder.

Of course you might get rejected from time to time, but then again, same with any other opener.

I reckon it's better to open with confidence, it's a good first impression.

The whole point of the PUA game is an indirect approach so you get around defense, if you start out with conveying interest she has already won. You might as well buy her a drink at that point!

Also, you have to be playful, catch and release. You want to seem interested, but have to have objections and road blocks in place so SHE overcomes them.

If your in a bar/club environment, girls already expect you to hit on them.

It's not like she expects people Genuinely ask for an opinion.

If you ask for the opinion, she knows your just trying to hit on her but your shy (DLV)

You have to convey interest sooner or later so if you convey it immediately, it also conveys confidence (Because there are so many other guys going indirect, if you go direct you stand out from the crowd)

What's more is, when you go direct, less chance of getting LJBF'ed.
Because if you go indirect, she thinks "oh, he doesn't want to hit on me, maybe he's gay or just wants to be a friend"

Going direct she thinks "Oh this guy is so confident, I like him. Sexual partner worth material"

Going indirect means you show interest after she shows interest in you. Just wasting a step. You and your target are a team, not enemies. You show interest and help her develop her interest.

Direct>Indirect

I agree, direct is always better and makes you look 10 times more of a man. Also going direct opens the door for the utilization of negs if necessary.
