So I have been following this stuff for a while now ..trying to talk to random people ..getting some small talk done.I hadnt opened direct till today .I decided to go out and do just the same .
Incidently the moment I stepped out of my apartment I ran into this lady playing with her kid ..I started of

me : Is she your daughter?she is cute
she : yes ..she is ..thankyou ...(talks a a bit and was smiling )..its her birthday
me : ohhh great ..happy birthday
me : do u stay here /where do you work /blah blah shit ..

she talks for a while asks me where I was going ...after a while I say "nice to meet you" and decide to leave ..it was more of a family scene...didnt really know if I should ask for no so quickly....

2 hour later after trying a bit hard to find a single women walking down the street ..i found one ( I think she was kinda MILF) ...i decide to open on her

me : Hey do you know where the closest starbucks is ?
she : blah blah ...got too interested in that I think
me : wait wait ..u r being too nice ..the real reasn I walked up to you is I think u r really adorable ..can I chat you up ?( I think I kinda fumbled here )
she : I am sorry
me : Can I chat you up
she : Well I got to go right now .( might have been in a rush ) ..but thankyou!

First off, congratulations on your first sarge!

I'll agree with the first comment about the 'can I chat you up' line... Seriously, who says that?

Overall, I'd say your first outing went really well. The key now is for you to keep practicing. Go out every night if you can, approach as many sets as you can, try different stuff, think of your own material, use situaltional openers (my favorite), keep working on your inner game. etc etc.
