What do you think qualifies you to be a moderator?
Each current moderator gets a "Yes" or "No" vote when selecting new moderators. You will most likely not get a "Yes" from me if you don't have any LRs.
I would like to apply for the moderator position. I have read the responsibilities and understand them.
Lets look what qualifies me to take on this position of responsibility:
I both know and understand the rules of both the forum and chat.
Ive been an active member on both the forum and chat room sense 2008.
I've written articles that express my point of view in relation to "game" and other related topics.
I'm an active member in the chat room, often times giving advice that I feel will help those who seek advice and/or ask questions.
Most importantly, I care about the guys who come here. This is why I want to help with the moderation of this place. Its no secret that most of the time the chat room is not being moderated and lately has been seeing an increase of trolls. These trolls, sometimes a bit harmless, sometimes flat out assholes that give bad advice on purpose to guys who simply don't know any better. This also happens on the forum to a lesser extent.
I used to be a newbie who came into this and wanted solid answers and advice and I remember all too well how I felt and the confusion I had. Being a mod lets me help these guys in a way I simply cant do now.
Other reasons:
You most likely know all to well Chief, I've been involved in my share of drama on these forums. I've broken rules, i've trolled the chat (harmless trolling but breaking a rule never the less), and i've said personal attacks against users here in the past.
I've also learned and matured as a person. However, it would be a lie to say I want to be moderator solely to help men improve in this area of their life the best way I know how. Its true, that's my main concern and moderator or not, I'll continue to do so. But I also realize that as a man in his early 20's I still have some growing up to do. Taking on a position of moderator I feel will instill the sense of greater responsibility into me because of how much I value the men on this forum, and the well being of this forum so that men may continue to learn here.
As a mod, I would follow a course of action that would benefit this forum such as enforcing rules, giving advice that I feel is good, move topics to their appropriate location (been a lot for newbie questions posted in the wrong sections lately), keep threads on topic, ect..
However, there are things I will NOT do as a moderator. I will not spam my coaching services. The link to my blog, and the coaching company I work for will stay in my signature as always and that will pretty much be the end of that. No spam.
In addition, I will not use the moderator powers to affect people I disagree with in a negative way. I've been public before about how I dislike mods that use their power for personal reasons and I'm not about to be a hypocrite.
In the end, its up to the current moderation stuff. If you all feel I would be a good fit and a person who can add value to this forum, then I'll gladly accept a spot as a moderator.
However, if you feel I am not yet ready or deserving, I will hold no grudges.
In the end, I honestly do just want whats best for the men who come here seeking help from the forum and its members.
