Indirect vs direct in a mall setting

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted here. But recently, these past few days, I had the chance to sarge with a friend of mine. There aren’t many target rich areas where I live (Sacramento) so we resort to gaming at the mall, much like my last in-field post last Christmas.

First off, it’s important to know that my experience with sarging is VERY minimal. Prior to these couple of days of sarging, I’ve only done it twice, both at a mall setting. My friend is the same.

I practiced many styles of openers these couple of days (situational, opinion, direct, etc.). But I find that for ME, it’s hard to go direct unless you have good BL, tonality, energy and experience, really. For someone starting game, going direct in a mall setting may be tough but it definitely could be pulled off. The reason why I probably have a tough time going direct is that what I say is NOT congruent to the line. I noticed that my BL was off and my diction was not clear. I would stutter and run over my words. So I learned to keep a conscious effort in improving that part of my game. Moving sets were difficult to open direct as well. Once I opened, it was hard to transition.

Indirect openers seemed to work the best for me. The women don’t have their shield up and I come under the radar. I often would transition after the initial opener into a cold read routine (ie eye positioning, BL, group dynamics). This hooks the set. I DHV and it enables me to take the conversation naturally into another topic.
I learned that it’s crucial to have multiple threads going. After transitioning into my cold read, and running routines, I quickly go into another thread. I learned that if I stay too long in a certain topic and sit on it, there’s a high risk of losing a set.

I feel the best way to build attraction in a mall is to go indirect. But of course, others will disagree and have their own opinion. Whatever works.

Good post. Going direct works very well on some women, very badly on others. Indirect will generally always have a chance. If you can, check out Vin DiCarlo's Pandora's Box system. He explains the patterns of girls' personality types and which ones prefer each sort of approach.
