When you spot a HB on the train and you know that if you sit next to her it'll be plain- the reasonble thing is to approach direct.
The problem is that it may lead her to feel discomfort because she knows you'll be there for a while and it might be awkward.

I have picked up women on trains and in train stations. In fact, I have had more success with HB's in public transit than in a bar. Mainly because they are not going anywhere, they have to sit there and listen to you until their train or bus comes. When you're on the train, I would not necessarily sit next to her. But sit the seat on the other side of the row. On most commuter trains, on one side is a 3 seater, a path for people to walk through, and then a 2 seater. If the HB is siting in the 3 seater, then you sit on the 2 seater. Or you can sit behind or in front of her.

I generally use natural game. Asking her if the train is heading to a particular location, or how long the train ride is going to be. Then start asking where she is headed to or compliment her bag.

Trains/transit stops are great locations. However, I think it may depend on the sort of people who use the transit in the city where you're located. In Portland, for example, it's natural for everyday people to use the train.

In other cities sketchy sorts hang around bus stops and the like so it can be iffy.

Anything to do with observations is good. Noticing her shopping bags or phone, etc. will work. Escalation can be tricky if you’re not near one of your stops.

That positioning is good. Have to watch out for sitting too close too soon.

trains/busses are fine places the trick is do your approach fairly close to were you get off, the opener is completely up to your style and preference but your stop gives you a time contraint to number close easier, forces you to ask if you are nervous etc.

I wish there were trains stations at my area.

Yeah i do agree with the types of poeple. I once day sarged at a ghettoish area and there werent as many hbs and the only decent ones usually respond badly when they get aproached. Cant blame them, im a six footer and i felt like i could get raped there :p

what about walking through the train untill you see a nice girl you want to talk with, then nearly walk past her, but stay standing in the isle. look over your shoulder or at least not turn your body towards her just yet, and ask her something innocent (ask her the time, ask her if this is the right train, or any opener you can come up with as long as the 2 of you talk) then tell her you just learned a konology game that leads to self discovery from a friend of yours and ask her if she has a minute because you would like to try if it works on someone else 2. then do the cube and go from there.

I totally agree with this. Just be bold and friendly and remember that the opener is really not that important. I really need to hit up the DC metro more as it's always crawling with HBs.

And a rowboat is a good way to cross the ocean in a timely manner. It is true you can open with anything, but I wouldn't advise it as a long-term strategy.

i think hes right when he says the opener isnt the most important thing, some people like myself see sets walking they want to open but then spend so much time thinking about the best opener and the window of oppertunity closes. the most important thing is actually starting the communication. but ofcourse good openers are better than bad ones, well duh

You're correct the opener isn't the most important thing, but it is also dangerous for newer guys to read "open with anything" as they tend to make a jump of logic to "opening with anything is good or one opener is as good as the next".

True, I live in Philadelphia, where it is common to use mass transit. I guess it works if you live in a transit friendly city.

I was actually thinking of moving to Philly before I moved to Portland, still might. Everyone I ask though says it is a city worth visiting, but not living in. Thoughts on what Philly has going for it specifically over other places?

I really love living in Philadelphia, it really has been coming into its own over the past couple of years. There are always new places and new things to do in the city. Going from one neighborhood to another is like going from one town to another. Interestingly, people told you that it is better to visit than to live. Because, one of my friends, who is from the Netherlands, once told me it is the opposite. He was able to really enjoy the city once he figured out how the city works. It is kind of a quirky town in that regard, we do operate with our sense of logic.

Also most visitors to Philly only hang out in Old City, where all the Revolutionary War landmarks are. While that area is nice, it can be overpriced, and a bit boring. One Friday and Saturday nights, that area turns into the "Jersey Shore"-but with cobblestone streets. That's not my scene.

I have a few friends that fall into the meathead category and while it's great to have them on your side, it really isn't my scene either. Lately I've been into retro-arcade bars and bars with a good amount of space (standing people over everyone seated).

When I vacation it is a bit different than most people's idea of vacationing. I'll move to a place for a few months or even years so I can pick up on the vibe of a place.
