A few weeks back, I met a girl on the trolley. We had a great conversation on the ride and I was able to number close. I scheduled a coffee date. While we had a great conversation on our date, I made a number of errors. Because we both had similar professional interests, we did a lot "shop talk". The conversation was a bit academic at times. That kind of talk is great to a point, I basically failed at making the conversation to more interesting and even romantic. Even failed at KINO.

I like her and I want to basically "re-do" the first date. Or try to get her, without having me fall into the doomed friends' category.

What you can do is make sure that your second date is not the same as the first. Instead of coffee, push the boundaries towards something more traditional date wise. Try to continue the "professional conversation" at a bar. The "conversation" gives her a reason to go drink with you. Then you can work on the kino and gaming.

Well, apparently the coffee date went better than what I thought. I did receive a text from her, and I set up a real date. We had a great conversation, much less "shop talk". And long story short, I was able to kiss close.
