Quote:
But there is a way bigger drug than that and it's called love.
The thing that sucks is that it's a drug that wears off. What you are referring to is limerence, not love; and in a passionate relationship, it still usually last only 12-15 months.
Love is not instant, it is not overwhelming, it is not all encompassing; that's just the pair-bonding endorphins being released into your system.
Love is hard. Love takes time and effort and work and dedication. Love is about sacrificing parts of your own life for someone else. Love is intimacy and trust and commitment and compassion. You don't fall in love, you build love. You open you heart and your life to someone and share and bond and trust, till you build a relationship worth working toward, worth fighting for, worth sacrificing for. Love is a bitch. But with the right girl, it's more than worth it.
But to compare love to a drug or an adventure, is an insult to love. If you want a drug or a wild time, then take a drug. Love is much more than a cheap thrill or a high.
