I have no grand opener planned, just smile..."Hey (nickname)" and then see what happens.
I'm not too bovered about escalating right now, i just wanna focus on that opening moment and make my body language perfect.
I'm just not sure wheather i should do the smile then say "hey" or "hey (nickname)" *cheeky look*
Would it be too personal to use the nickname at such an early stage?
Thanks

If you are then yes use her nickname, but if you're not friends with her she may wonder how you know what her nickname is.
I'd maybe just use something simpler like walking over and saying: hey, can I ask your advice? It's my best mates bday the same day as my dads and they both want to do something - my mates are all going out but my dad's having a family birthday party - they're both gonna be upsett if I cancel, what should I do?
That way she can give advice, she'll feel she's adding value to your life and you can work out from that if she's a family girl or a going out kind of girl which will help move the conversation on.
Good luck! _________________ I came, I saw...

But it'll seem like you've been studying her facebook page and she will think you're a creep.
Follow up on Example's advice and good luck!

For example: if they have wild golden hair then i'd probably call them little lion etc...
