Posts: 1 | | This was in a university library, about to go chat up this girl who was packing up to leave her study group, when the one guy in their group comes over, leaves his number next to me, asks me to call him to go out sometime, and they all walk off. Any suggestions for flipping this around?

Location: USA | | hmm in sort of a rough spot, because the guy will feel slighted and possibly talk shit on you. On top of this most girls stick to "if my friend likes you I cannot like you" approach which is just silly if you ask me.
Your best chance to salvage something from this operation in my opinion is just be straight forward with the guy that you don't play on that team. Don't be a jerk or hurt his feelings, then just stealth into the group. Don't hit on his friend right away but slowly starting showing your intent then start making moves.
this is all assuming that you are willing to dedicate time to this project and its not a hit and quit situation. if this is one of your many side projects sure why not?

If the gay guy gave you his number, then chances are his hot chick friends would be reluctant to go for you, because that's just being a good friend. However like someone mentioned, this is a one way ticket into their social circle. Make friends with the whole group, let them know that your straight, and try to pick her up. This may take time though.
