Hey all,

I 'd like to get the opinion of as many of you as possible, on this topic that truly intrigues me. I've got a severe stutter, which I can control to some extent with a breathing technique, so I want to get suggestions to use my stutter as a starting point to introduce myself/open a set, in a confident way (rather than a pitiful one)

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Maybe you can work on fixing your stuttering? Is probably a sign of low self confidence, weak inner game? You say you can control it with breathing so it is fixable for you.

Because I use to stutter, also, mumble when I talked. No one can understand what I was saying.

It got fixed really slowly through practice. The product I used was Roger Love Power of Voice, for fixing my Voice. Also, one thing that helped out with it was working on my inner game. Oh I start working on my voice about 2 years ago.

Way you talk is a major part of the game, I suggest you start working on it. I am still not done, I am gonna start my voice class in couple of month.

Start working on it soon as possible. It will help you out so much. Not only with pick up, but in your everyday life.

FYI: About 90% of the things you communicate is done through body langauge and your vocal tonality. 10% is what you say. Pointing this out so you know how crucial is it for you too start working on your voice if you wanna get good at pick up. Pick up aint easy, but the results are so worth it.

Hey,

Actually my stutter is genetic , and it's not due to being shy or anxious. I have huge blocks ... and the breathing helps to somewhat control it... So I'm looking for ways to mention it straightaway without sounding inferior or pitiful

You or a wing use an opinion opener that involves their view of a guy with a stutter?
Sure you have got some DHV stories that can include it too.

But try not to point it out too much, let it be natural to them that you stutter and play good solid game.
Also you'll be a guy they remember talking to because of it being more unique.

Edit: guess what i'm saying is let it be a small part of your game and not stop you in any way as a PUA

Write down the top 50 words you would use whilst talking to an HB and learn the French equivalent. When you come to an awkward word in English replace it with the French version. Your brain has to create new synaptic pathways to encode this translation and these new pathways are used by the frontal lobe on its pathway to the Broca area of your brain ready to process the word on its way to the motor areas which control your speech. If you think of the stutter as a dam holding back the word (water) then the new neural pathways created for incorporating the french version are like pressure relief pipes which carry the English word through at the same time.
Sounds crazy but it works. Same reason you don't stutter when you sing. The brain is using the neural pathways required for processing the tune/melody to get the words through too. Hope this helps.
