Met up with hb9 for coffee, started talking, then she would not shut up about greece (she's greek) and all her traveling experiences. didnt allow me time to run any routines (really wanted to run the Cube).

Any tips on how, if this happens again, i can commandeer the dialog?

*i was thinking of using transitions. (her story-i politely/slyly interrupt >my similar story>interesting detail of the story pertaining to people>routine)

Cheers

you could try the direct approach and just say something like:

"do they let the men talk in greece?"

Just control the situation. Impose your frame on her and interrupt her. Girls talk non-stop with other girls 24/7 so there's no need for her to talk all the time with you. Command the conversation and just run your routines. If she's doing all the talking then you can't DHV or run routines. Just get on in there and do it.

"Are you interested in talking to someone, or hearing your own voice?"

you know what?

we should all keep a cardboard cut-out of ourselves for these situations. i hate women who never shut the fuck up. it's some sort of cruel inhuman punishment being subjected to that shit.

next time it happens, just say "i am very sorry to interrupt. but i've got to run out to the car real quick, be right back"

grab your cardboard cutout, walk back in, stand him in your place, and turn and walk away...

WHEN she says "what are you doing?"

just respond "well, you haven't let me get in one word on the conversation all night, so i figured i would go find somebody who is actually interested in talking TO me and not AT me. don't worry, this guy will fill in!"

peace!

Letting her talk a lot isn't such a bad thing. We're all narcissists, and when it comes down to it the most interesting topic you can talk about to any person is the topic of them self. Which leads me to my next point, if you want to seem interesting, seem interested.

But definitely do not let her do all the talking. I've been where you're at and the easiest way to avoid this is to wait for whenever she pauses then force your way in, and change the subject very abruptly. She'll get the point.
