So I recently read on an online men's magazine that 1000 women were surveyed on whether they found a guy who smiled more attractive vs a guy who had a straight face or even looked ashamed. I forget what the number was (maybe ~70%) said that a straight face was more attractive than a smile.

To be honest this was completely new to me; typically when I'm out gaming at a club or even at school or with some friends I'm trying to always have a smile on my face. I did give it some thought however, and I'm thinking maybe women think a guy with a straight face (who still smiles on occasion during a convo) is more mature and can be taken more seriously?

What do you guys think?

another guy posted the same thing probably read the same article i told him to imagine this go ahead imagine some dude a foot taller 60 pounds heavier staring u down then starts walking toward you with the same look on his face now imagine you do that to a girl i personnally had more results by smiling at a girl then when she smiles a flash a smile with a little teeth and walk toward her in three seconds but after you do talk to a girl ur supposed to pull back the smile a little bit but still have a relaxed charming look on your face

Ok thanks, that makes a lot of sense to wait until you've talked to a girl or know her pretty good before you ease up on the smile. Cheers

well, the article is correct... a striaght IS more attractive than a smile.

just one problem, generally speaking, you have to meet someone first, than build attraction. Think about it, walk up to a girl.. open with whatever, smile, as the vibe gets more sexual smile a little less, more seductive eye contact. smile at first, than ease up on it.

and theres one huge problem with that study
the women are talking about pictures not real men
theres just a mystery about that picture like whats is that dude feeling but in another one he smiling hes happy thats it
they actually use this tool in clothing catoliges advertisment and all the time and album covers im series try noticing it next time u go to a cd store
so it will be diffrent if they went to a real place and picket between to guys that looket exactly the same one smiling and one hard face or do a speed dating thing with a guys smiling and one with guys with a hard face cause it diffrent if your picckin just a picture or who your going out with
i just dont see how u could talk to a girl in a down mood cause ur face will give that mood and make things boring and just dragging the vibe down ur supposed to make her feel happy, upbeat, and excitment

let's not forget there is a difference between:

- a confident and calm smile

and

- a dorky, nervous, and overcompensating smile
