My mate recently got out of a long term relationship and I thought I would help him out a bit with moving on.

Now to set the scene: Im known amongst all my friends and work mates to have a big head, ie, they call me optimus head.

So we approach a 2-set and I open with this:
"In your honest opinion compared to my friend here, do i have a oversized head?"

I know its kinda acting all self important but it seemed to work.

From there it seemed to break the ice and we all chatted for ages......the first attempt he got a kiss-close but nothing else.

The second attempt was to a single promo girl there and he has many follow up days with her.

The first set saw me distracting the one in the group who is in a relationship and has a kid already.

Good wingman style?

I think it doesn't matter with what you open as long as you open, the important thing is what you say next.

About your opener, although it's funny... I don't think it's the best idea to Lower your value since the first second, if you are into opinion openers why you don't ask her opinion about... anything, except your head.

for a wingman move its good i think. as long as you take turns devaluing yourselves lol. its the easiest way in in my opinion.

AND devaluing yourself is not always impossible to recover from, it at least shows you have a sense of humour, don't take yourself too seriously, etc. Its only a way in, i dont think its too bad.

on paper it's not too good- making fun of yourself before she has a basis of what to think about you isn't starting on the right foot, and it's really just a yes or no question- doesn't really engage her.

That said, it's all about the delivery, and that's the silver lining. If you are a funny guy and can pull it off (and follow it up without a conversation gap) i'm sure it would work just fine... you'd need to follow it up with something quick, funny, and somewhat redeeming... like, "but girls love a big head, right?"... and then immediately jump into your next topic.

I personally wouldn't use that opener, but for different people different things work.

Don't spend to much time analying something if you didn't field test it yet.

If your both naturals and confident, and people can tell that before meeting you, that could work.

Also, how it is delievered will be the biggest reason why it will either fail or work. Then stack forward and go into your next thread.
