In a nutshell, when you don't show your intention is indirect such as opinion openers (the ones that Mystery teaches) and when you show your interest right away (I wanted to talk to you... * Direct Opener) it's Direct Game.
Just a small note: Mystery Method is Indirect Game oriented although in the later versions of the MM company they now include Direct Openers, but they still teach that you should wait until she showed interest to start showing interest in her.
