Okay so I did a few approaches today but one has stuck in my memory because I couldn't figure out how to get past it. Basically I approached her indirectly and asked for directions. She gave me them and i basically assumed that she was a student.
She just said "yea" quite blandly i then asked if she's just finished shopping ... "yea".
Both times she said this she was quite low energy, if she was high energy then i would have pursued but i ejected for good reasons, I even tried to tease her early on.

How do I get past the transition phase if i'm getting such bland answers!?

Forget it - she's not interested in talking to you; you have no idea what may have caused her to be so short that day, so the last thing she needs is someone trying to force conversation upon her.
There's probably an mPUA answer to this using negs or C+F or whatever, but you've gotta remember that 'targets' are people, so be reasonable; just let it go.

Yeah dude. I do a ton of daygame, and sometimes you just get chicks like that. You gotta just let 'em go. In fact, I was at Rite Aid today and approached this pretty hot 30 s/thing chick.

She was in the grooming isle looking at something and I hovered nearby pretending to browse. I noticed a skullcap package that had the most absurd picture of a guy I've ever seen. He had his mouth open like he was yelling at someone. "That' it," I told myself.

"Excuse me," I said, leaning down (she was kneeled down). "What do you think of this picture?" She had no response. I do goofy shit like this all the time and it almost always gets SOME kind of response. Nope. She just stared at it, perturbed. "I'm sorry, what?" she got out. "Jesus Christ," I thought, "this is fucking dead in the water." "Do you think this picture would make me wanna buy this more? I mean come on, it's a really silly picture." No response. Then after a beat she said, "That's a really strange question," again, like your girl, no energy. "I guess it is I said," and left.

Fuck 'em man. There's plenty of fun girl who'll respond well immediately.
