as with most things, i would assume that practice makes perfect.

it's hard to change one's mind, then change behaviors after.

it's easier to change behaviors, and eventually "your mind" changes.

i would say that "practicing" being in state, would lead a person to those behavioral changes where he would naturally begin to think/act/feel that way.

as a matter of fact, i know this to be true.

why? because up until high school i was a total pussy. then i got into drugs and dealing. by the time i was twenty years old, i was one of the biggest dealers around, and carried a gun and a baseball bat and was ruthless as fuck. (i've been out of that life for coming on fifteen years now), but i know for a fact that adopting that state of mind, and ACTING like a nutjob, turned me into one. lol.

i'm still loopy. of course, the coke helped too.

Can you please explain why his experience with "the state" is a bad thing?.
This thread. . . it's where every 'state guy' will eventually go, including those who teach it.

And if being in "state" is just lying to yourself, what is being honest to yourself?
Come on . . . all those sad guys pumping themselves up to act UNLIKE themselves on a weekend is obviously a lie. Being honest would be to accept your own feelings, your history, then working towards goals on a day to day basis. Read the journals of guys who treat ^this as a personal odyssey in the FR section.

Tony Robbins has been talking about "state" forever. It is an old time honored thing in sports and sales, there is no question about it in my mind.

back to the OP question....

I don't know how you got into state for days on end, all I could say is maybe you just had a shift in your confidence, as you suggested.

As far as getting into state, look at what football teams do right before the game. they have some kind of ritual , and they combine physical and mental excitement.

Yea, I would say it helps when I bang my balls against the wall for about an hour and yell at the top of my lungs to get ready for the night out...makes opening girls less painful! lol

There's a reason why football teams go through pre-game physical/emotional exercises before EVERY GAME; the act of running around and knocking people down like human bowling balls is an unnatural act, not matter how many times you rah-rah yourself to believe it.

If you're OK with taking out your pom-poms prior to meeting anybody throughout life, go right ahead. Good luck prepping yourself for the girl who happens to walk by you while you're not in 'state'.
