I've been trying to get the hang of daygame recently and had to head through London so thought I'd give that a go. I wasn't in a great frame of mind, but was told that Oxford Street was great so didn't want to miss my chance. I warmed up by asking basic Qs to strangers on the train getting into London.

I still wasn't feeling it, but really warmed up when a shop assistant was particularly chatty. On the way out of that shop, I saw a cute girl walking out so went for the; "Where's X? [her reply] No. Let me stop you; I sorta know where it is, I just thought that you looked cute and wanted to know if you were friendly too." She maintained eye contact throughout me saying that, answered at the right time but then just walked away when I finished talking. It was like it was a line that she heard on a daily basis. Out in my small town, that line always gets their attention because it's so far from normal. Are London girls really that used to being hit on during the day?

When I was at the train station though, I did get an instant coffee date and a number close (she closed me!) with a girl who was going the same way as me on the train. I keep wondering if I could have taken it any further. What do you guys reckon; what's the best you can achieve on day game?

Welcome to the club, Sir!

I am a noob trying to sarge in the day and have done virtually all my pick up attempts in big London as quite simply there is more variety and more chance of girls HB7 and above on a regular basis.

As I have not managed to get yet to the stage of a Day 2 right now I guess my best way of judging is by thinking of how well I did in a day sarge in terms of stopping the HB for a chat and if there was any good banter and stuff going on. I admit I have frozen up at any potential number closes but I guess I am a newcomer so can not judge.

TBH, Oxford Street has not been my greatest venue, I have found it too crowded and never been able to stop a hottie in good time. I started another thread in this forum a few months ago mentioning where I reckon the best daygame locations in London are. Personally I am more keen on Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square for daygame and also admit Bloomsbury is worth a try too.

I guess the best you can achieve on daygame is entirely up to you!

I was just about to start a forum. I live in London. I find that British girls are really difficult to talk to as they don't open up much. It seems like USA people are willing to talk much more. I met some Americans recently in my university (4 guys and 3 guys), we were outside the university bar smoking and walked up to the group as I had previously met two of them (guys), and within the space of smoking my cigerette they were begging me to join them inside for a drink, unfortunately I was already with friends so couldn't leave them.

I find that Europeans (Italians, Bulgarians, Germans, French) in my university are a lot easier to talk to. I don't know!

The British reserve has always frustrated the heck out of me too. From my daygame experiences I have found the most responsive girls are almost all from overseas. Perhaps they are impressed at me expressing random knowledge about their home cities or the like. Or is that just the way it is?

Are you guys who have trouble with British girls actually British yourselves?

As I've said in the past, someone did a study and worked out that 20% of English couples met up through work, 60% while drunk and the remaining 20% in ALL other circumstances. English people are not good at certain types of conversations (direct compliments especially).

Zebra, I am black african and have been living in the UK for over 6 years now. I do have a british passport. I am considered british by the people here because in this culture, especially in london, anyone with a british accent is assumed to be british and labelled british by society.

I've been watching Keys to the VIP (a competition between playa's performances around different clubs in canada or USA, not sure, analysed by MPUAs), some episodes are available in youtube. It seems like those American/Canadian girls are soooo easy to talk to and eventually game. The problem here is:

- British white girls aren't easy to talk to unless they're drunk or you're introduced to them by a friend, they have that "every guy who talks to me is hitting on me" body language before you even say anything. so you can't go and just say hi, its very awkward. I usually ask for a lighter or comment on something funny they just said and even that doesn't go far!
- British black girls are friendly but I usually don't go for them! don't ask why
- British asian girls are friendly but if you're not asian, you have no chance because they stick with asians in relationships due to their traditions.
- Eastern european girls I find are very good looking and friendly to talk to, especially bulgarian and russian girls, im yet to meet a single in my university, I don't know where they're hiding

the one time I spoke to a group of americans, I am an AFC who wasn't even gaming at the time...I knew 2 of the guys in the group, there was about 4 guys and 2 girls. I was just being myself, the girls were asking me to join them in the bar....

Also, im about to write a post about "the game in UK" and how A LOT of girls here know about mystery method...thats a problem

My only problem with British girls has been in London. Generally, I don't have a problem. I was wondering if it was a London thing; if 0.01% of guys can hit on a girl in daytime, then that will be a lot of guys in somewhere densely populated like London. Around my part of the world, a girl will probably walk past 500 guys on her way to the shop and back home so it's unlikely she ever gets hit on during the daytime.

London girls are used to being hit on a little bit more, but don't be discouraged by a few bad approaches. If you stop them confidently, and deliver a solid direct opener, then most girls will smile and be flattered, even if they have a boyfriend or aren't interested.

Ta for the tips everyone; yesterday I had another go and did far better and on a packed tube train too!

She glanced at me once and had a god look at the books I was carrying. Two glances usually shouts interest to me so I stared the conversation with "Know any good Irish pubs near Paddington?". I knew it wasn't just polite conversation she was making when she waited for me on the other side of the ticket barrier.

She was not English though (Greek). Has anyone had any success with English London girls* during the day?

*English & Londoner: the combination is the critical bit

London girls - referring to locals? From my experience foreign girls in London (be they living and working or studying there or just on vacation) are far more likely to stop.

@Zebra

English and London girls - hmmmmm, not so sure. But does nationality really matter?

I read a great book recently called "Watching the English" by Kate Fox. She argues that the English are defined, as a nationality, by social awkwardness. The two components that are relevant for us are:
1) Inability to deal with compliments
2) Desire, above all, to avoid offence
(There are exceptions, but they're mostly alcohol related)

There's not much difference between people, but a lot of what difference does exist is due to the environment in which someone developed.

Does she only refer to England or the rest of the UK too?

It's based on her observations of the English. Personally, I'd limit it to English people who have grown up in an English environment though (English friends, English media etc).
