Hey,

I'm at University and I found a pretty nice way to get a number close at the library during the day.

I've been using this opener for a while now and have had great feedback. I probably number close 2 girls a week with this line (I usually go to the library 3 times or less).

Just grab a seat next to a girl and do your work/reading/etc. Make sure you have your school's paper or magazine or whatever, Local city paper would work as well. Lie the paper on the desk and after a bit of time passes lean over and say

JG: Hey can I have your opinion on something?
HB: Sure
JG:I work at the _(paper title here)_ and I'm trying to write an opinion piece about dating rules
HB: Ok
JG: My buddy and his girlfriend were dating for about 2 years and they just broke up. *They live in the same apartment/house/building, how long do you think he should wait before he brings a girl back?*

or

*They live in the same apartment/building/house, should he bring a girl back before he moves out*

or

*Is it cool for him to hook up with one of her housemates/roommates?*

Usually the HB will respond negatively here saying your buddy shouldn't hook up

This should get you talking, I usually don't plan further than my opener and I just grow with the conversation organically. I like to cold read at this point, maybe argue with her and say why my buddy should hook up. It's really up to you.

**Risk involved**

The only risk involved with this opener is that she works at the paper you are saying you work for and doesn't know you. Usually the paper at school are rather large and alot of departments don't meet each other. Writers don't meet certain parts, same with editing. etc etc. If she does work there (happened to me once and she was a writer) say you are in X department and want to become a writer. This helps with connecting with her as well.
