Ok so I just read "The Game" a couple days ago and it made a lot of sense to me, so I thought I'd try it out and become a PUA in development. So I'm in this pet store and I see this HB9.5 talking w one of the shop girls about this lizard. Now I don't really have any experience with openers and I know a lot of people look down on situational openers, but I am just learning. I'm 26 by the way, pretty good looking but I never get women because I'm too nice and have no game.

Anyway they were looking at some lizard that cost like $110. So I was like "woah, $110, what kind of lizard is that?" And they tell me, they were both like reptile geeks but I forget the names they told me. They weren't friends the shopgirl was just helping the HB, Anyway I am a pretty funny guy so I was making little jokes, and they didn't seem to be creeped out but the HB wasn't really giving me IOI's she just kept talking to the shopgirl. So I was standing there for about 3 minutes just silent, every once in a while I'd make some lame joke, sometimes they'd laugh. I asked what some lizard they were talking about looked like, and the shopgirl showed me this stuffed animal of it, and I was like "oh, so those lizards are machine washable?" because that's what it said on the tag. That got the best laugh response.

So anyway, in the back of my mind I'm thinking the HB isn't showing IOI's so I have to neg her and try to tell some stories to DHV (failed at this I'm pretty sure, I couldn't really think of any stories other than my first pet was an Iguana when they brought up iguanas). So I try to neg her by saying "you're kind of a science geek, aren't you?" She didn't really laugh so I thought maybe it was too mean, although I tried to say it in a C&F way. Still not showing IOI's, so when she brought up how long her lizard was, I took my hand and touched her arm up and down to demonstrate how long her lizard was. She didn't seem creeped out, but again it didn't seem to help.

By the way the whole time by body position was not really faced to either of the girls, they were to my right so I had one foot facing away from them and one towards them so I was like halfway facing them, was that wrong? I didn't feel like I came even close to making a connection. So I never saw any IOI's from the HB, only from the shopgirl who I wasn't interested in she was probably a 5.5.

At one point I just was standing there silent for like a whole minute or 2 while they talked because I couldn't think of anything to say. In the back of my mind I was thinking I should make up a time constraint and say I have to meet someone, but I'd like to see her lizard in person sometime or something and see if she would give me her number that way. Of course I didn't do this because for some reason I thought the shopgirl would be jealous or upset that I was doing it in front of her and snubbed her, not asking for her number only the hot girl's. You guys think that would have any chance of working?

So basically my first open was a fail and the girl walked out of the shop. Again she didn't seem to dislike me at all, she just didn't seem sexually interested or show IOI's which is always my problem. So what did I do wrong?

Your first open was a success!!! You opened. It was the other parts of your game that aren't perfect yet. Don't be hard on yourself getting good at opening takes lots of us a long time. NEG NEG NEG on the hb9 bro. they can't handle it. I would have hit on the hb9 a tiny tiny bit and then acted like my attention was shifted by the awesomeness of the 5.5 hahahahaha. it would have been magical.

Should I try to #close even if I don't feel a connection at all? Any opinions on what I should have done?

Nice for opening. As your first opening I think it went great. Nice body position and it was good that you didn't ask for her #. You didn't build enough value to do that. Good job for realizing you need a time constraint.

But yea going from there - situational openers give you less of a conversation. They had to say the name of the lizzard and move on. If you ask them an opinion opener - "what kind of lizzard do you recommend, btw I only have a second" then they will talk and talk and give you hooks you can expand further on. You can also start with a situational opener if your more comfortable.

You- "wow $110, what kind of lizzard is that"
Them - "Its..."
You - "Cool. I only have a minute but what kind of lizzard do you guys recommend. I am a clean freak that can't have things messed up."
Them - "Well X lizzard is small so you can...."

Also if you learn some canned material and memorize some stories with plenty of DHVs, then you know exactly what to talk about. All you have to worry about is transitioning there.

After their lame lizzard recommendations.

You - *locking in, leaning against the counter, facing them* "Ah OK cool. you know i have a feeling about you guys, but really I have to go in a second"" (transition)

You - *moving on to your favorite gambit* "I noticed you have your ring on your middle finger... (Styles ring gambit)"

But of course nothing in real life works like it does in your mind. One of the lizzards will make some noise, the girls will giggle, you have .5 seconds to think of something and keep your frame. It's the real world. It's just practice.

I think that you should, even though it was pretty clear you probably wouldn't get it. Why then? To get rejected. Then you wouldn't fear rejection anymore. But that's just my point of view, and I'm relatively new to this too.

Other than that, good job, you didn't close, but even the best don't always close.
