My ringtone is called "Kingston Sunrise." It's a reggae sounding thing. It has the virtue of being the only ringtone freely included with my phone that was even vaguely listenable. It might convince some woman someday that I'm an enormous stoner. I'm not, I don't smoke at all. But if a sound happened to get me laid....

On my previous phone I had Herbie Hancock's "Rock It." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK0Pi4wC8Hk At that time I had a data plan that allowed a limited number of free downloads per month, whether ringtones or games. So, I made an effort to find something. It was too much effort, and consequently, with my next phone I didn't get any kind of data plan and didn't seek out any ringtones.

i disagree with the posts i've read that say a ringtone can't be a DLV.

think about how you feel everytime you are somewhere and someone has a loud, purposely obnoxious ringtone go off. what does it do? i'll tell you. it screams "Look At Me! Give Me Attention!!!" and what do you want to do? i'll tell you. you want to smack the shit out of them...

i don't think there could be a bigger DLV than screaming "Give Me Attention!!!"

i hate obnoxious ringtones. i never set mine to anything other than a very soft, non-offensive, standard ring. mine is usually on vibrate, but when it does ring, people are amazed. i've actually had people say "wow, your phone sounds like a phone" and notice it, think it was individual enough of me that they ACTUALLY commented on it.

I change my ringtone from time to time, because it gets boring when someone calls you, currently I have Scooter - Sound above my hair (old school raver :D)

It won't be that much longer before a phone doesn't sound like a phone anymore. It may have sounded like a phone when we were young, but land lines will eventually go the way of the dodo bird. Then a phone won't have an inherent sound anymore.
