I want to get you guys take on this. In my opinion, sense of humor is highly overrated when it comes to success with women. All women say they want a guy with a sense of humor, but I have several hilarious friends and they all suck with women. There's 2 reasons why I think funny people have trouble with women:

1. What makes something funny is the release of tension. When we tell a joke, we're building tension and then releasing it. Guys who are funny are good at releasing tension. Of course, when gaming girls, building tension and holding it is very important. Most funny guys can't handle it.

2. Most funny people are attention seekers (at least on some level). Another huge no-no for success with women.

I'm not saying don't joke around and be fun or that women don't "like" a sense of humor. But I don't think it has anything to do with attraction. Tommy Lee got a lot more tail than Mitch Hedberg.

On a specific point - I do agree with you. A guy with a sense of humor is rather to be taken into friendship than into an actual relationship. However - what I found out the last months is that when they say a guy of humor - they mean a guy of humor that uses humor aswell in the sexual aspect.

It's a great way of letting your intentions know to your girl and it's easy to escalate cus when she laughs with your joke - she agrees with what you are saying. It's easy.

I'm responding to this as much for you as it is for me, as I have a date today and was thinking about this.

What I keep coming back to is the difference between class clown and the guy who is so in control of his state and situation that he can crack jokes. Isn't this what we refer to as amused mastery?

Mitch Hedberg was one of the greats. But his schtick (i don't know about in real life offstage) was that he was somewhat shy, and told odd jokes that some people didn't get. So it was more of a spectacle than something that created attraction.

So my point is I kind of agree with you. When I did online dating, every friggin profile would say 'sense of humor is important'. I believe what they mean but aren't saying is what I say in the second paragraph here.

I knew this guy who was an absolute comedian. Girls woulds ask him to spend more time with him and stuff. However, he was one of those child-like small framed guys and if he would joke about "Swallow itttt" they would laugh. But if a more masculine/hot guy were to say that, it would come off very stupid.

The mistake guys make is that their style of comedy doesn't match who they are. In that little guy's case, his immature/perverted style worked well at making girls laugh.

A real man is everything, he's not some supreme stick up the ass person. He can joke, etc. It just has to be done in an attractive way.

SKSpua - I think you are over reading/analyzing things. Humor by it self does not get girls, using it with other "tools" does get girls. And I think you think guys try and use only humor to get girls. And girls do like guys with humor, but they also like other things in guys.
