I freely admit to having skimmed this thread, but I feel like there is one small point that I should mention.

As someone who likes to wear rings (4 at latest count, although none of the ones that I wear come from a past or current partner), I can attest that it feels strange when you take them off, particularly if you're wearing a ring that you have worn for a long time. It's entirely possible that she continues to wear the ring simply because she is used to it.

Rings also don't necessarily have to have an extra connotations or meaning. I still wear jewelry that was given to me by my ex--it doesn't mean anything. If she's wearing a promise or engagement ring you might have a problem, but otherwise it isn't necessarily a big deal.
