So i found this girl I was pretty into, and I sent her a message sayin a little about me and what not. Told her to find me on facebook if she wanted to talk because she was the only girl who caught my eye and I wouldn't be checking back often.

SO, she has requested me as a friend and I accepted. She's obviously waiting for me to initiate a conversation, but that's where I'm stuck.

Tips? OH and she is definitely HB10 in my book. Vietnamese and very into the culture.

different cultures is difficult. However some funny/teasing might work. Just don't be boring and ask tons of questions like your interviewing her I guess.

Maybe you could look at her interests or hobbies and pick something from there and say: "oh I just saw that you are a ____ type of girl/fan, I don't know if we'll get along but I'll go with the benifit of the doubt . Tell me something special about you I wouldn't have guessed by looking at you or your profile. "

OR

"So tell me something special about you, attractive women are common but what makes you special and not just another attractive women?"

That could also be an IM opener. Or you could do an opinion opener maybe something asian related that she'll know a lot of.
Example:
"My friends and I were talking the other day about bad drivers and one of them said Asian drivers are the worst, is this true? Are you a godd driver ?"

Then just take it from there and be yourself and try to get to know each other ect. Don't ask too many consecutive questions, take turns.

However I don't know how new she is to American culture so it could backfire. Wish I could be of more help.
