Hook: something that attracts attention or serves as an enticement: The product is good but we need a sales hook to get people to buy it.

I’d like to introduce a new technique that my wingman and I have been field testing for only a few weeks, but so far it has delivered great success. The Hook, the idea behind a hook is simple; it’s used before the opener…like a warm-up to your big introduction. We’ve all passed that HB7+ that is sitting/standing by her lonesome or in her own world just waiting for a guy to come up and offer her some good conversation. Next time you pass this girl, rather than jumping right into an opener to get this girls attention, make eye contact, flash a cocky grin and candidly point at her. Make sure she’s paying attention while you do this, or you’re going to look like a fool…but then again a club is filled with them, so you may blend in. Continue to walk past her, and vanish for a couple minutes making her think you are gone, and she won’t be able to meet you. Grab a drink at the bar and head back to her for your opener and routine.

The term "hook" often refers to the social hook. Interesting concept. Careful with the termonology, though!
