The line between confidence and arrogance is measured by ability. If you can back up your sense of grandiosity with results, it serves you in a big way (think of Babe Ruth calling his home run).
That said, I believe that irrational self confidence is more useful than rational self doubt, so in my opinion there's nothing wrong with believing you can achieve anything, just don't let believing you are the man substitute for putting in the actual effort to become successful.
