I've kind of ruined my chances at finding this mystical "one" you speak of. I thoroughly don't believe in it. My view on that "everlasting relationship love" is that that feeling of love is an outdated throwback to tribal requirements to stick together and protect each other.
Don't get me wrong, love is real, but it's different. I love everyone because of the complex differences that they all share that have somehow manifested in such stark contrasts to each other even though we are all made of the same strands of carbon.
"The one" will never happen because that feeling is created by hormones, and hormones are an organic enzyme that decays like everything else.
I know it sounds morbid but it's actually extremely liberating if you interpret it how I do.
Regardless of whether or not you buy into the emotionless objectivity of scientific description, there's something to be said for this, and I feel it lines up in part with what the original poster was getting at.
Take life as it comes, don't assume you're going to find the 'one', whatever that notion might mean to you anyway, don't assume you're going to see tomorrow, because there's no guarantee you will.
All you have is now, so smile and enjoy it.
