I have a friend who's a girl. She used to sleep with my roommate and now we hang out. She knows I'm in the pick up community yet she's getting more and more mad when I won't buy her a drink. I have bought her a drink in the past but on the friends level. I've never slept with her. She keeps telling me I'm retarded for being on these stupid forums and thinking this stupid stuff works. Truth is she asks way too often for for me to buy her drinks and tonight when she asked my cousin I told him not to. Personally I don't go around asking girls to buy me drinks so why should it be different for women? I dunno she got really mad at me tonight over the subject like she had a sense of entitlement to drinks from guys.

Well I would say from experience.. don't buy girls that you are trying to pickup in bars/nightclubs drinks.

Now this girl is your friend right? you are not trying to pick her up, so just treat her as one. Friends buy each other drinks, why not suggest you each buy a round of drinks?

As for her slating pickup and forums like these, well thats her opinion and I wouldn't worry about it. You will probably find most girls won't like the idea of this stuff, little do they realise it's being used on them more and more these days.

FUUUUUUUUUCK THATTTTT!

If any girl asks you to buy a drink and gets mad that you don't, does so because she EXPECTS you to buy her a drink. There is no way she can appreciate the gesture.

IT IS OKAY TO BUY GIRLS DRINKS!

she just has to qualify and jump through your hoop. Men use the "can i buy you a drink" thing too often and too soon, and women trample allll over it.

If I'm making out with a girl I just met at a club, and I plan on taking her home, if I buy a drink for myself and not her then I am being rude.

Especially if a round of drinks is purchased and she's not included.

Just like women shouldn't expect for you to buy them drinks, you shouldn't expect anything out of buying a woman a drink. Anytime you gift someone anything, do it because you want to, not because you want to get something in return.

Don't buy one girl a drink, buy the whole group drinks.

Otherwise you'll just come across as a douchebag.

When asked for a drink:

'what makes you think you've deserved one? ;)'

and stay away from users.

That's imo all you need to know on buying drinks

Check out your intent first.

Are you buying drinks because you want something from her? (hint: sex)

Or are you buying it because she asked you and you want her to like you? You want to buy approval?

Or are you buying because she's your friend and you just want to buy it? Would you buy it if she was a male friend?

If you answer Yes to the first 2 then don't buy it.
If you answer Yes only to the last question then buy it.

Me, i don't buy drinks for anyone. I don't drink, and the money is mine and I do with it what the hell I want.

I will buy a female friend a drink if I feel like it the same as I will buy a male friend a drink if I feel like it.

Otherwise.. NO I don't buy girls drinks. And I never buy drinks for a girl if she asked me to.

Sometimes I buy drinks and sometimes I don't. It really depends on how i'm feeling that bitch. If she comes of all cocky and just says.. hey buy me a drink. I shut her down and look behind me. And say... who me.. yea right. But if she being acting right as far as giving me answers to my questions. I'll buy her a drink just to use it as a tactic to move her somewhere else. I'll say... hey lets go drink over there and talk about what I asked you... blah blah blah. So it all just depends really.

The mindset of a lot of girls when they ask for a drink is :-
seeking conformation that their hot and therefore can get stuff from any guy
or
their generally instrested in you and are going by what the movies do, which is to get drink off a guy you like ( small amount)
or
Im thirsty

in these situations if you realy dont want to buy her a drink then say no or " is that your best pick up line ? "

alternatively as said before buy the whole group a drink and walk away .... don't even stay there ,walk away show them that its no biggy but this depends on whether or not you want to part with your money .

I dont know your full position with this girl but i think she may like you......

Yes! Yes yes yes x10. Everything Spread said is gold.

Look, some girls use guys for drinks. It happens. They'll ask you: "So... are you going to buy me a drink or what?" The answer should always be no. These girls will never appreciate the gesture. They're there to prove something to themselves... they're there to get free drinks... most often, these girls are not there for you. It's exactly like Spread said... there's nothing wrong with buying a woman drinks, buying her dinner, etc but do it because you want to. Never do it because she's asking.

It all comes down to the very first male relationship a girl has- that with her father. The truth is that most girls (subconsciously) try to manipulate men like they manipulated their fathers growing up- they cry, they throw hissy fits, and they bat their eyelashes to get what they want. She'll naturally get upset and frustrated when she sees it's not working on you; don't give in to these tactics- she's daddy's little girl, not yours.

Exactly.

Go ahead and buy her a drink, because you feel like it.

The need for the rules is it is hard starting out to know when to do what. It's much easier to make it a binary now and introduce shades of grey later in the learning process.
This.

The reasoning behind the baseline PUA logic of never buy a girl a drink is due to most men who look to PUA to improve their dating lives being "nice guys" (read: pushovers)

These guys are often buying girls drink for reasons such as: Supplication and Trying to buy interest.

As you progress and develop a better understanding of social dynamics in a dating setting you will find many situation were it is perfectly fine or a good idea to buy a girl a drink. You will gain this situational experience through experience.

Great line, will definitely use that one! Though I have to disagree about buying the whole group drinks... that seems very needy to me, in fact I usually only ever buy a girl a drink to isolate her from the group, or if she really did deserve it.

Also often when ever I pay for dinner or something (usually expensive), when the girl thanks me I always say its ok, you can just buy me a drink or something later. What are peoples thoughts on that?

if you invite a girl out for a drink pay for it. If you meet a girl and she asks you to pay, just dont do it. Pretty simple. When a girl asks for a drink I actually usually laugh at them and give them a look you would give to a bratty younger sister. Most of the time its some form of shit test.

I will only accept a drink from a man if we have had a good conversation. If a man offers me a drink when he first approaches me I tell him no. It is too superficial.
