Are there any consistant signs of a good time to approach a girl or a group? I.e. lulls of a conversation, or type of dress[clothing] that the girl is wearing?

I think that timing is quite significant but I haven't found exact and percise indicators.

More on this: there has been research published stating that there are certian clothing indicators that a female is more likely to pick a mate [aka shoes etc]

I am a firm believer in the 30 second rule. You have 30 seconds from the time you see a girl to approach. This is extended if she sends you an IOI, like her checking you out. If you stand around too long, your likely going to over analyze (like trying to read her by her clothes). If she sees you staring, its an instant DLV and you look like you could be a creep.

On the other hand, if you have a reason not to approach within the 30 seconds, like being in a set already, the 30 seconds start as soon as you break set. The more spontaneous the approach, the more natural it seems

As far as the clothing goes... if she's showing a lot of skin... She wants it... Plain and simple. If she's sitting there with a hoodie, sweat pants and no make up, chances are she's not on the market.

most postive results have been after approaching before 5 seconds are up. I really like mehow and his idea of one second rule and approaching as a fun loving party guy. Just approach, its more exciting and your excitement and adrenaline usually translates as high energy, fun loving and reckless which are attractive qualities. So, in short, just start approaching right away, force an ioi as you appraoch and kino immediately. Walking into a set can be daunting but the more you analyize the less natural it will be. yeah?
