Some people give up huge amounts of their time to study this stuff in order to attain success with the opposite sex.

So my question is, to those of you who have studied PUA for at least 2 months.
Has PUA made you happy? or at least happier than you wear before you started?

I'm curious

My innitial worry about getting heavily into PUA is that because PUA is relatively new it means most of it is experimental. Its just people field testing and giving their opinion and what they think works and doesn't. This is hugely problematic because it means that a large portion of PUA material you read could end up not helping your game at all or worse, impairing it.

Anyhow guys i'd love to hear your thoughts on how PUA has effected your lives. Thanks!

It started out as an intellectual curiosity for me because I already had a gf at the time and was pretty happy.

The temptation is for non-naturals to overthink and overanalyse situations, so reading MM and how complex social interactions can be broken down and theorised about, although interesting, is a great way to mentally masturbate yourself to lonersville.

The "problem," as you see it, that PU is experiential, is true of ANYTHING that involves teaching a technique to an individual. Since every individual is unique, some will be able to do one style easier than another. There are styles of martial arts that suit thin, small, fast-moving guys, and styles that suit heavy set, slow-moving muscular guys. They try a few styles and find the one that suits them, there is not necessarily a "right" or "wrong."

The main point is you can talk about the theory of the perfect approach, opener or DHV story, but you can't know what's congruent with your personality and actually gets you results until you TRY it. Don't be a KJ, look at some material, see what sounds fun to you, and try some stuff out. Work on your sticking points, come back to some material about those, and try what works again, ad infinitum, until you are comfortable talking to women in every possible situation, from strip clubs (indirect night) to the street (direct day) to a friend's party (social circle).

Me personally, getting into it has improved my life greatly and I'm very very happy. However, I would warn ANYONE against getting "heavily" into PU. "Community" guys are generally quite weird fucking people. A great way to just be getting chicks constantly is to have shit going on in your life, have male and female friends, be going out to social events, and in general just being a fun, sociable person completely regardless of "sets" or "negs" or anything.

In a way, this is really just another scam:

Anybody can achieve academic success.
Anybody can learn to be productive.
Anybody can achieve financial success.
Anybody, anybody, anybody.

No, not really.

We hardly ever say this crap for things that are physically viewable:

Anybody can dunk a basketball.
Anybody can climb Mount Everest.
Anybody can throw a football 80 yards.

No, not really.

Put guys into two groups. Let's say one group has ABSOLUTELY no idea of game and never heard of it. The other group has been reading books, joining forums, studying, maybe a boot camp or five. . .

I could be completely wrong . . . but based on experience and what I can see on this forum, I'd say that the split between guys who are comfortable with picking up chicks and the guys who can't are pretty similar in both groups. Perhaps a point or two in favor of the 'game group'.

Most guys will read, agree, disagree, nod, and go back to their same ol' lives.

This is absolutely great advice that a great minority of people have the ability follow.

This seems to be a problem with the way PU is taught.

I mean take 5 average joes and pit them against 5 boxers and the boxers will come out on top.

The difference between someone who is a boxer and someone who is a PU. Is that Boxing coaches, KNOW what works and HOW to make a decent boxer.

Take 5 pua's vs. 5 average joes and the pua's will also come out on top.

Reading books, watching videos, and going to boxing seminars won't make a boxer. If you're a boxer, sooner or later, you're going to have to slap on a pair of gloves and step in the ring with a guy who wants to punch your head off.

Reading books, watching videos, and going to boot camps won't make a pua. It's just cocktail party knowledge to the average joe who donesn't have the ability to practice what blondguy prescribed in his post.

In Brief . N/A

I can't say Yes Or No.

I was allready well versed in all aspects of self development.
I am 90% self taught and happy nearly all the time.

Due to being one of the older members on this site i have been lucky through a mixture of jobs and older people that i know, to have had a great deal of training in almost everything.

A lot of older guys have not passed on their skills to the next generation.
I have been very lucky in that i have been taught skills from some of the best role models around at the time.

And not one of them was a PUA.

The only reason i hooked up on this site was to learn what a lot of these modern phrases are.

And i have gained a greater understanding of the material that is being used.

Knowing where much of it comes from makes me laugh.

In essence it has been usefull to gain access to all sorts of information.

I am happy knowing that my skills can't be purchassed on a dvd or downloaded for 24.99$

I have at my disposal inner peace and sense of enlightenment that comes from having a real sense of purpose in this world.

I have also lived and have had a lot of great experiances.

I have my own unique views on PUA.

It is a very clever re branding of a lot of mixed material.
Some that is very dangerous.

Fin Makes a good point.

Now.......in return for my answer.
Has it made you happy KASABI.

Yes.

Two years ago when I first started looking at PUA material I had approximately 0 female friends.

Now I have like a thousand, and most of them want to do me (ok exaggeration, but you get the point.)

The amount of confidence I've gained from studying PUA material at night when I get free time, an then applying that material during the day is astonishing. BTW I don't go out "sarging," I only apply my knowledge to the interactions that I would have otherwise had.

I think the reason why PUA benefited me was that I believe I'm predisposed to be ALPHA, but I never had a strong male influence in my life growing up, so I had to learn about some of these things from the PUA community.

I don't want to give PU too much credit either, because lifting weights and martial arts (my two main hobbies) also build confidence.

Quantifying confidence is a good way to explain how I feel about it.

Let's say I started off with 1000 confidence "points," but I had no idea how to "access" these points - they were locked away. Things like working out and martial arts build your confidence "points" up - let's say to 1500. However, basic information learned via the PUA community can be "The Key" to unlocking this hidden confidence. I feel like this is a decent representation of inner game; everyone has it, you just have to figure out how to bring it out. Then, positivity is how you keep your inner game.

100 % yes....but its not simple, easy and doesnt happen over night

For me I think people are looking for an easy fix. They want this stuff to change their lives over night. You said your two months in, your about 36 months away from being close to as happy as you set out to be. This is not something for the feint of heart and not something for a quitter.

I am lucky in a way, I always had cool friends and knew alot of naturals, I was always smart so i already graduated university and am in line for a great job. But i have also fucked up alot in my life.

The true test of how happy being a PUA can make you is how much diversity you have to overcome to get there. For most of us, this is easy because we have always been on the outside looking in. We have never been smoooth or overly interesting, never been the best looking guy in the room or the funniest. However like anything its a matter of identifying a problem and then taking the steps necessary to gain the skills you need to overcome it.

To the guy who said its bs and not everyone can climb a mountain or throw a ball far or dunk a ball...BULLSHIT!
No noone can just walk up to everest n walk to the top, but if you spend years training and invest lots of time and money into it then 100% anyone can climb everest. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but 5, 10 years from now, why not?

PUA is the same, women need to be your passion. Pickup should not be about using and abusing women, it should be about doing the impossible and understanding what makes women tick. If you are truly passionate about women and their mystique eludes u like it did me for years, then sure PUA can make you happy. But ill tell ya now, it takes a hell of alot of work and time to get remotely good at it and you need to take every peice of info u get from this forum n other sources n mold it to your own style.

There is no magic soilution, but with time and effort you will be happy

More confident yes.
Happier no-not any happier than before
There are people who have nothing and are happy, there are people with everything and are not.

Real happiness is not created by PU, its by loving yourself, everyone around you, and everything in general. it when a person stops hating things and starts loving them happiness will come.

A starving person loves food-give them food such as rice and beans they happy. give them food for a couple weeks most no longer happy as when they first obtained food
A rich person who is given rice and beans goes wtf wheres my caviar, or at least is surprised and confused, not satisfied with his meal. his happiness appears to need higher value.
This is only if a person bases their happiness off things, when a person finds real happiness it is not based on goals or desires. just simply being is a joy, everything is joy.
If PU helps you get this love for everything including yourself then yes PU can help indirectly.
PU was Created soley for Picking up women, PU. All the other self help shit that we have to wade through in PU is to help PU.

PU is objective. what people make it out to be is subjective to themselves, people try to impose their own idea of what PU should be but it is simply Picking up women. all this what should pick up be, creating a lifestyle etc are all subjective helpers to picking up women

Personally, there were/are plenty of fun times. It's kinda like picking golf or any other hobby. You try to figure it out and play the game. It hasn't really changed my life. When you figure out a puzzle, it's not THAT exciting is it? It's the process that's a lot of fun.

What makes me happy is to see a guy who thinks he can't figure this out, pick himself up, put some effort into it, and succeed. Posts/pm's and real life messages of excitement, discovery, and a new view of themselves and the World around them always puts a smile on my face. On the other hand, witnessing continuous cycles of self sabotage is pretty depressing. I suppose this is what makes success stories that much more fun to see.

By the way, how is any written material 'dangerous'? There are crappy books and there are entertaining books. No need to burn em'. And why the push back on guys who make some $ on their chosen specialization? I see that you're not so focused on PU to make your life out of it but some of those guys certainly have enough experience with PU to help others.

Has PU made me happy?

Yes, both directly and indirectly.

I was a wbAFC about 7 years ago, before I heard of this "David Deangelo" guy who was supposed to double my dating without resorting to bisexuality. I had really low expectations for myself when it came to girls. Sure, I was just a kid in middle school but, believe me, I was severely depressed because of how terrible I was with girls. I was doing everything wrong; I was sad, angry, bitter, and a "nice guy." I told girls that I loved them and they would say they loved me like a brother. All I wanted was a girlfriend. Pretty fucking pathetic, huh?

After more than 7 years in the PUA community, I got pretty good. Sure, I'm no master PUA rockstar that fucks 20 women a day, but I am happy with myself. I am especially satisfied with where I am today if I compare this to how I was before. It wasn't just a simple improvement for me; it was a complete transformation into something else. I'm happy with my love life because I know that I will never be alone unless I want to be.

Through PU I also found Buddhism, and I know it's a weird way to find a religion but thanks to Max Weiss's "The Zen of Meeting Women" I found even more peace of mind. It's pretty cool how Buddhism is one of those trendy PU things that every serious PUA looks into.

Has PUA (a pick up artist) made u happpy? heell no i will not let them fuck me in the ass shit.

Now serious, no, any pick up artist has made me happy because almost every PUA guru is FULL FULL of shit.

PU made me happy? i dont know if its PU but i like to party and talk to girls, i think what makes me happy is having a fun conversation with a girl and see her reaction, i really love when they see me with awkward eyes or "i wanna fuck you" eyes, its the adrenaline of not knowing what tha fuck is going to happen next, if she will kiss me by surprise or its gonna punch my face, but its fucking addictive.

Talking to girls, improvise and think my life is some kind of movie where i make the script is what really makes me have a smile everyday.

I have to agree with this theme. PU, like boxing, or painting or mountain climbing doesn't GIVE anyone anything. The person practising needs the discipline and heart to give these skills to themselves.

My point is that 5 months boxing will make you a much better boxer than 5 months in PU will make you a better PUA, because the people "teaching" don't know jack shit about effective teaching and alot of the newbies here don't have the self efficacy to motivate themselves without outside help.

Has PUA made me happy? YES. It gave me hope when there was none.

Later I discovered this shit is about me, it's not about girls.
