| Why is alcohol and drug use so verboten in the pickup community? I understand how they may hurt peoples' skills, certainly. I understand how, in the case of the latter, they're illegal and in the case of both your body will be destroyed from excessive use. Still, you'd think that any time someone mentions being high or drunk they'd just said they fucked their sister based off of how aghast guys are at such an idea. I get that a guy might become dependent on them to be able to approach or be assertive in closing, and that's fucked up. Still, that point conceded and agreed upon, what the hell is the big deal? I look at other messageboards and see threads insta-locked if someone does so much as mention drugs.
Alcohol erodes my skills depending on how drunk I am, most definitely. Once I pass the happy buzz stage it's straight Tucker Max time and any trim I pull will be through dickhead charm. Dickhead charm is indefinable so I can't really describe it.
Crazy shit like shrooms, acid, 2CI, and the like make it hard to even get it up so no gaming goes on there.
Weed actually improves my game. "Yeah right Art," you say. "You're just high and think you're doing better." Nope. Time slowing down and becoming painfully aware of everything coming out of my mouth and what's happening around me (thanks, paranoia!) become assets but the effects on you may vary.
Sobriety is, frankly, a bore especially in places where pickup skills would be practiced most.
I can't really do drugs anymore since I'm in the Army now, but the point on booze stands (so the sober game's gotten a good workout). Must we treat these people like they've done something terribly wrong?
EDIT: Something that occurred to me after I posted...
Is it part of the little AFC living inside all of us that doesn't want to be like the boorish dickhead that used to get all the women? Do we simply associate those substances with those personalities and eschew them because we don't want to be "that guy?" _________________ Only one thing could cure this: Dance Music.
