| I am currently reading a booked called "The Gift Of Fear" by Gavin De Becker. And to give a short summary, he writes about violence in America, focusing on issues such as Stalking, Battered women, homicides etc...He states that all these never "just" happen, and there are clear signals(intuition) that we often ignore. As a result, these violent events seem "out of nowhere". He moves on to give you skills that could potentially save your life, or that of a loved one.
Ok, the marketing campaign is over...and I know your wondering how the hell is this book going to score that HB9000... It's not.
I am bringing this to your attention, because I feel we often underestimate how powerful our skills/tactics can be. And not always understanding the other side of the "PUA" coin. What side might that be you ask?...
Good question...let's see.
Kelly just entered her apartment building, next came the four flights of stairs. Near the top of of the third floor, one of the bags give way, and her grocery's start tumbling down the stairs.
Man: "Got it! I'll bring it up" (No AA, coming in the set with slightly higher energy level)
Man: Let me give you a hand(DHV)
Kelly: No, no thanks, I've got it(Bitch Shield)
Man: You don't look like you've got it(Plough). What floor are you on?(Neg, followed with Aplha leadership)
Kelly: The fourth, but I'm okay, really.(Resistance)
Man: Im going to the fourth floor too...and im late(time constrainst)-not my fault, broken watch(slight DLV)- so let's not just stand here. And give me that.(YEAH,Alpha male)
Still holding on to the grocery bag...
Man: There's such a thing as being too proud.(Neg)
Kelly let's go of the bag
Man: We better hurry. We've got a hungry cat up there.(Time Constraint)
Man: Did you know a cat can live for three weeks without eating?(DHV)...I learned that when I once forgot that I'd promised to feed a cat while a friend of mine was out of town.(DHV)
Kelly was not standing at the door of her apartment.
Kelly: I'll take it from here.(Resistance)
Man: Oh no, I didn't come this far to let you have another cat food spill.
Kelly hesitates
Man: Hey, we can leave the door open like ladies do in old movies. I'll just put this stuff down and go, I promise.(Plow through LMR)
This dude actually ends up sleeping with the girl. Totally cool, and its good to know that this stuff works. Only problem with this story is that, Man raped Kelly.
The other side to the "PUA" coin... the above story is true, the PUA terms are shit I just plugged in. I'm sure this may be one of those things im over thinking, but the alarming amount of similarities between cases of rape,stalking and assaulting women is just to much to ignore.
While I know this is something that we as a community must accept, I just wanted to bring this to attention, so that you may inform your sisters, mothers, daughters and girl/friends so they may better protect themselves in the future.
