imo i think you can make friends easily but while making these new friends u might not be able to be the alpha male of the group until u guys are legit friends and have a social circle.
Just talk to people, be social! If you want to ask a guy where the party is do it and try talking to him bout school and what ever get to know him. If you guys connect well then you guys are like friends, just get his number before the end of the night.
Also when you are at the party, try and meet a lot of people so that you can make more friends and better friends. Meet all the guys aswel as girls!
After that night, make sure to keep in contact with ur friends who you want to keep because most likely you will not see them around at school (if you do then thats even better!). Try and hangout with ur new friends often not only to parties but just for bonding time i guess lol.
Right now im in firsst year uni so i mean new friends join our 'group' and we meet them, infact i dont even know half their names but in this group we have smaller groups with closer friends. I too dont have much party friends! But i dont even have much time to party
So another tip is when you join the group or start ot hangout with them , make sure you talk and have conversations, not only with the person u initially met but with everyone so that everyone knows u and they dont think ur wierd or boring.
