So im 20 and living on college campus and went to a party last night. I really want to get good at the game since its been a LONG time since i got anything. So I was talking to my friends outside in a group and then they all left and I took a glance and saw 2 girls so i approached them.

I did my opener: "hey could i ask you a question, who do you think lies more, girls or guys?" and the girls opened up to there opinions (one said girls and the other said guys) but i had no idea how to move the conversation on. I can tell they were kind of waiting for me to say something more but just nothing came to mind. So i pretty much walked away when the 2 girls were awkwardly starring at me.

any advice on transitioning from my opener and what i should possibly do next (maybe like tell a story, do an experiment etc...) to keep the conversation going?

Pay more to surround and be a better listener, you can always go with "Why do you think that?" and they will express their reason
When I use this routine, I usually go with the joke guys do small lie, like "you dont look fat in that jean".... You can take this as a joke or chance to kino/neg her, point at her and said that, then say im just kidding and give her a hug.
Or you can just go straight to Neil 5 lies game.
Be creative, and relax, you ignore what is going on around if you're too focused on finding what to say next.

You should back up such openers by a good story, f.e.: "yeah, because my friend, he was blablabla ...". Make up such stories, lie if necesairy . You can keep going on this and the conversation can roll in something else.
A common transition is "how do you know each other?", to which they will look at each other if they know them for a long time to which you can say "you I bet that you 2 are very good friends" and they might be like "omg how do you know that???"
Or, just very casualy and spontaneously, ask them "hey did you also go to the party? how was it?" and continue from there.
