my advice on dating sites, is to NOT show ur whole face in ur picture. try and have colorful backrounds or hues in ur pics. my most active account with the most action, feedback, meetups is one in which i if i do show my face, the shot is so far away that u can barely distinguish my face.
the theory why this works (and it does work), is that it creates that sense of mystery. it gives enough room for a woman to picture her "perfect man." even when they ask for a clear face photo, i almost never give in. i try to get them to agree to meet me first. they will always stick around if u give them hope they will see it in the future. women are too curious in nature not to. it's once i get them hooked on my personality is when i start to bend a little. i still try and get them to meet without getting my pic. the crazy thing is most will agree. they want to meet their "perfect man."
if u do bend and send a picture before meeting, be prepared to get less response from them immediately after. not because u are bad looking. but because u can never match up looks-wise to their perfect man.
anyways...this seems like a lot of work so maybe u wanna take a few points. but what i speak is through many years of experience playing around with online social sites since the advent of the internet. and the reasons i use it aren't for actual pick-up (although i have). i have always used it more for practice. practicing lines, routines, techniques, sharpen wit (through chat) before i test them in the field. anyways, maybe u can grab a few points in this rambling post and run with it. good luck
EDIT: btw, i'm not a bad looking guy. the reason for not showing a full face photo is that it creates the mystery and ability for the women to use their imagination to transform u into their physical version of the perfect man.
plus, i think i read a study somewhere in a mens mag and it mentioned the same thing about not showing the full face will get u more online activity
