Here's what happened: I was at the mall with my friend and we walk into this fountain pen store (Montblanc). The girl working there was an HB9 for me and she just said hi, and I said hi as well...I told my friend I was going to do something and asked him kindly to not cockblock for me (nor would he have the guts to say anything because he's the very average type of guy)

Anyways, I was looking at some pens and she thought that we were just kids and didn't know anything about these, so she asks us, "Are you familiar with our products?" I say, "Of course, this German manufacturer is superior" and I said that with a funny look on my face.

She smiles and tells me, "You can come back here and look at these pens too" and these pens were behind her at the counter. So I go and look and I say, "I wish I had the money..." She then says, "Well...there's always the future!"

After this, I turn my head and ask her, "Wait what did you say?" She says, "I said there's always the future." So I then say..."Hey you know what, that's a very good idea, I can pay you in the future" (implying that she would hand me a pen right off of the glass tray.) I said this with a funny look and she began to crack up like there was no tomorrow. I said, "I've only a few mins. my friends are waiting on the top floor." I kept going on and I pulled out my OWN fountain pen and said "I only got this flimsy fountain pen, but I mean, you must be a a much bigger pen geek than I working right here."

Laughed again, and she began to talk about her pen obsession etc. etc. I tell her, "It's so hard to find a job now, I doubt you can find my age" She guesses 18 but I tell her, "Not quite, but I originally thought you were 18 when I walked in here" She says, "No, I'm actually 23"

Then I just left, said to her "Have a good one" with a funny look and wink over my shoulder. I didn't bother getting her number because it was one of my first "newb missions" and there's nothing I could really do with a 23 yr. old chick.

My friend was all shocked and asked me what the hell I just did and I told him that I've been reading a bunch of books on dating lately (one by David Deangelo) and been watching a lot of PUA youtube videos. For me...approaching has never been the difficulty, it was just the things I should say and how to read body language/interpret signs. I thought it was pretty damn good for a newb mission, even if there was no kino or number closing taking place. My confidence shot up higher than it's ever been.

Aside from the fact that you told her you were essentially too broke to buy a pen, I thought you did a good job, especially if you're just starting out.

Establish comfort in your game by testing methods via trial and error before you set any objective goals (numbers, lays, etc.) which is exactly what you're doing. Nice job!

Bravo man! I really wish I could keep a girl laughing, or even keep a convo going.

I can recite like 10 diffrent openers. But I can never seem to get a conversation going. I heard that you can just keep doing openers or do a transition, but I really havnt tested that yet :P
