Anyone here particularly adept at gym-game? Is there a good way to approach a woman on a bike for example, or is it best to wait until they finish up and try to time a trip to the water cooler, etc? Any tips on body language, and any good situational openers would be appreciated as well.

Look for IOI's. Females are always complaining about guys hitting on them at the gym. Youll probably gwet alot more cold response.

From a psychological stand point it might have something to do with the fact that the women are swaety and not feeling particuarly sexy, or that all the pysical work gets the adrenaline high, the lighting being can bright cause theres and your pupils to constrict.

Im not saying you'll have no sucess but batting a thousand or anywhere close not likely.

My guess (which is all I can give you Im kind of a AFC) is start with eye contact and pay attention to IOI's.

You could try something cocky and funny just to open the conversation and see what her response is, sometimes they will start talking to you back or laugh.

e.g. after she has finished a set of weights and you are stood near her or make an excuse to or walk past her - 'Come on, you still have another 10 sets to do', said in a funny way with slight smile, then you can transition into conversation anything from asking her about her work out to opinions on exercise, more cocky and funny banter, etc.

or even better the cocky and funny comment could be in the form of a question, e.g. 'Hey I bet you have another ten sets to do?', 'Why are you so tired already, no pain no gain right'.

After this depends on the gym, if it is a big place where you don't see her often you could find a common interest and ask her to join you there like a salsa class or get her to grab coffee or a beer but for a genuine reason and ensure you qualify her, e.g. she seems cool and funny but you are still not sure yet but want to find out more about her.

I kind of disagree with falcony. Even if you are sarcastic don't joke around by making fun of a girls work out as an opener... I wouldn't think that would be the best opener out there although that could very easily work. What I would do:

If she is on a treadmill (headphones are on or not) come up on whatever machine is next to her and say so what are you running away from?

If she is curling 5 or 10 lb dumbbells walk up to her and be like can i work in with you. she will say "yeah i guess" or "yeah". After she does that she is either going to stand right near you or walk away. if she walks away say "hey where are you going i think i need a spot." if she stands there be like "can you help me a little. im not sure if i can get these up". While you do this act like you are reallly struggling with the weight as if it were 100lb dumbbell.

I personally would not walk up to a girl in the gym if she is with a friend and if she is freely standing (not on a cardio machine). It is going to be a lot harder for you since you will have to be entertaining both of them while they both make Girlphyse talk (girls communicating without saying anything.. like ajudgement about a guy)

This is something i have been trying to figure out aswell, but i think FALCONY has cracked this one...

Have you considered just bumping into them and saying excuse me. I know it is lame but if there is one place it could work its at the gym. Then you complain about how its too cramped in the gym and see where it goes.

it doesn't take that much for that, you are just trying to test the waters.
