Girls actually means unmarried, but alot of women don't know and may consider it derogatory (not sure why), but then I suppose you wouldn't want a woman calling you a boy, so use it only on the very young or when talking about somebody else. Women is best. Ladies can be used playfully, but it seems a little formal today and a term best used on older women.

Better yet don't use any of them.. Use their names instead.

Just say Hi, Hey, or whatever and tell them your name. If they're on the ball they'll do likewise. If they don't then call them whatever you want. They'll get the idea.

well i think ladies CAN work, however, it depends on how you say it through your tone. it could sound like you are a tool or it could sound like you are trying to be funny and possibly are funny. but if you approach some girls and say "ladies.. how are ya" if they look at each other you know which you sound more like.. field test it

ladies love the latin flavor
a slight variation on this theme is "que onda chicas", they usually have at least an idea you are saying hello, but many don't know exactly so you demonstrate you smarter/more travelled/etc....higher value.

If they ask you what it means, then you can DLV by suggesting they watch more Sesame Street to bone up on their spanish

otherwise just move on in english

I had a truck driving friend once whos pickup style was simple..

He said when he wanted to get some, no dinners, no dates, no witty conversation, or NLP..

He would just go to the bar, etc.. walk up to them, make eye contact, then whisper in their ear "you want to go f..k, get naked" or something to that effect...

He said it worked more than you think it would, and alot of chicks acted like they were flattered or thought it was funny. It was a numbers game.

I've never been comfortable being quite that crude. But then, perhaps I should have been. It would have sure eliminated some confusion. I think alot of women seem to expect something similar (American women have fairly low expectations of American men), and when you try a more sophisticated approach they often judge you less than favorably. I call this social conditioning.

Hehe, even back in the day when girls WERE called broads, they didn't like it.

I like "ladies" and "girls", but usually "guys", because "guys" has become gender neutral, and can applied to any age, its also non-threatening and doesn't show much interest. When you are trying to beat them back some, you can use "Girls, girls!" or "Ladies...ladies!" (note "ladies" has a pause to account for sauveness and style, lol). I don't think "girls" really bothers girls, if you say it in a non-chalant manner, "Hey girls, how's it going?" jovially works just fine.

Haha...

"Hey guys"- Disarms you, shows you don't care they have a vagina.

Why on earth would you want women to see you as NON-SEXUAL.

Jav has commented on this before.

"In order for a pick up to be succesful she has to at some point realise it's a PU."

Why not start with "Hey girls, ladies, women, cuties, thunderous monster climbers/ banshee's?"

Edit: Generally speaking older women prefer to be called girls and girls prefer to be called women.

Heh, talk about the grass being greener!
