this is an add on to my post regarding 'HELP REQUIRED MUCH APPRECIATED' if u read it it will explain more.

So what i am trying to discern is whether the place or situation where IOIs are given make a difference to their validity, e.g in a club girls expect to get hit on, so giving out an IOI here by them is very indicative and true, but in the library at uni/college people are just trying to be friendly and make friends etc so what would normally be taken as an IOI is merely friendliness and holds less truth as an indicator of interest.

What do people think?

IOIs. True IOIs are subconscious. It doesnt matter where and when you are. They are still valid.

In the same way a false IOI is gonna be false no matter what.

Learn to distinguish between IOIs that they show automatically and IOIs that they fake.

Hmm, so I got a question: For example, there's a girl at work that tilts her head 45 degrees every time she says hi to me. Tilting the head is an IOI, right? So does that mean she's into me, or could it just be that it's a habit of hers?

Come on, its not as technical as that.

Yes, tilting your head shows that you listen but it could be conscious as well. These are not the true IOIs. The true ones are the ones that she isnt aware that she is doing...

Don't worry about IOIs just go from your gut and assume she's responding, more often than not this instinctual feeling is more effective than constantly monitoring whether whatever you're doing has an effect.

What she verbally says is minuscule compared to what she communicates through her body language / tone. And what she communicates non-verbally is almost completely subconscious. Ezo is right, she won't notice herself giving you the IOI's, they will be similar regardless of the setting.
