I don't know about craigslist but in the UK we have something similar (but more popular here) called gumtree.

I posted in gumtree a few times, and sure, I got plenty of responses, but every single one turned out to be fake. Some were very obvious, some of them asked me to message them on another dating site, and some weren't obvious at all. Until you emailed them back and realized that they were bots programmed to say "lol you're hot, let's get together sometime babe, blahblahblah".

My situation was rare, and I hate thinking about how we first met because im ashamed of it but it payed off....for ME. I still regret doing this and I wouldnt advise anyone to even take that chance. The girl that I hooked up with the second time had told me she was looking for money for school and at the time I bought it but we were actually attracted to each other and had sex a few times since (no money was exchanged, we just met up and fucked). Again, rare circumstances. This girl in the long run was a big pain in my ass.

What is this "risk" everyone keeps talking about? Surely a girl you meet in a bar could be just as psycho or have just as many diseases as a girl online?
