I created this opener based on an actual friend of mine. I've field tested it, and it usually hooks. Here it is:

You: Would you ever date a guy if you knew he'd get whipped over you?
HB: Yes/No/Idk/Maybe
You: The reason why I ask is, one of my close friends recently got a girlfriend and ever since then, he's completely alienated himself from me and all our other friends. Wouldn't you be turned off if your boyfriend dropped all his friends and gave you full attention?
HB: Maybe/Yes/whatever
You: See, I thought most girls would be turned off, but my friends girlfriend actually encourages it. She absolutely loves having his full attention, and she even deleted my number from his phone book.

And after this , she says something about how fucked up that is or whatever. A lot of girls will feel strongly about the number delete. After this, you've engaged her and you can stack right into your next routine.

Sounds like a good opener. It has a emotionally strong hook in the "phone number" line. That sort of thing is going to emotionally involve anyone in the conversation even if it has never happened to them (and hopefully it hasn't as that is pretty rats).

However you'd have to be really careful with this opener, in my opinion, as i could potentially come off as pretty whiny. As though you're just complaining. Don't want to sound too dependent on the friend or two needy. Just my thoughts and i guess if the delivery was spot on it wouldn't be an issue.
